    Ravens Game ball:

The Refs: they didn’t even try and hide it this week. The kicker was Landry getting crushed in his route. Uncatchable and can’t be illegal contact makes that hit defenseless receiver and 15 yards.

Twice Flacco threw the ball at the ground without reaching the LOS each time. Receivers were past the LOS. That makes it grounding.

Just three of the myriad of attempts officiating tried to make us lose with.

    Browns:

Derek Willies – thrown into the fire and makes an amazing run after catch on the GW drive.

Baker Mayfield- played his balls off.

Denzel Mother Fucking Ward. Interception and a blocked kick.

Hue Jackson – for saying duck it and going for it in 4th and 5 in OT.

Gregg Williams and the entire defense. 9 points allowed in 5 quarters. Simply fantastic

Duke Johnson for the huge tuna on the GW drive to make it close enough to go on.

Simply awesome. We finally beat the refs. Now that monkey is off our back it’s time to start taking control of games

    Defense only gave up 9.

But, agree with everything. Awesome to have it go our way for once. But, I do have two things to vent about.

1.) Calloway. He’s got to get his head out of his ass. Constantly getting flagged and dropping passes.

2.) Haley: I said this when we hired him. He’s really good and moves the ball, but you have to put up with weird dumbfuckery a couple times a game. Case in point: the stupid flip reverse that he tried towards the end of OT. 3rd time he’s run it this year, 3rd big loss. Also, the deep ball on 4th and 5 where the refs botch the call. He, the refs botched it, but why the fuck does he have to try a low percentage deep ball on 4th down every time? If he could just stop that dumbfuckery, he’s be so much better off.

Denzel Ward, you can’t say enough about him. Gaines also stepped up big time after he got picked on when Mitchell went down last week.

I love that deep ball on 4th. Refs blew the defenseless receiver call. Either way he regularly completed it in Pittsburgh. We need points and he’s trying

He had a shit game, but I’ll toss Greg Joseph a gameball for kicking the game winner, dude shouldn’t even be on an NFL roster (he barely should have been on a college roster), but he did the job when he had to.

Hyde is going to be amazing for Duke Johnson. The defense is gassed late in the game from fighting to bring him down, and they don’t have the legs left to chase around Duke.

Also, we’re undefeated at home. Let that sink in.

After reading this, I told my wife. Her response: “undefeated in the division, too.”

    Game Balls
1 Baker kid never gives up and his attitude is contagious
2 Ward Dorsey knew what he was doing at #4
3 Willies Came up huge when needed
4 Peppers Can’t believe I’m saying it but he had a good Game
5 Greg Williams His defense is no joke
6 Joseph The kick wasn’t pretty but it went thru so what the Heck.

    Goats
The heck with it this win is too sweet to be overly critical.

    Best goat ever, Mike.

My gameball (not that I don’t agree with the others) goes to John Dorsey for building a real team for the first time in years, in his FIRST YEAR HERE. That’s an amazing achievement. Still work to be done, but he’s certainly given us reason to believe he’s up to the task.

Suddenly, it’s fun being a Browns fan again.

Njoku has been about the biggest goat this year. He has to be leading the team in dropped passes by double.

    Hue Jackson is a loser.

In order to be a good to great team you have to be critical regardless of winning or losing.

    Goats:
Officials – we all seen it, no reason to beat the proverbially dead horse.

The OL – Too many bad blocks or missed blitz pickups.

    Njoku – drops
    Calloway – drops and penalties
    Joseph – Missed XP

    Gameballs:
Mayfield: Has “it”. Didn’t play horrible but didn’t play great. When it counted he came through and that’s what matters. Wins matter, stats don’t.

Willies – Stepped up when needed. Liked him on the practices and scrimmage I seen this year. Has a ton of potential and we are going to need him with Higgins nursing a knee injury.

Defense: Might’ve been the single best defensive game I’ve seen the Browns play this century. They are doing something I complained about all of last year. They are creating turnovers.
Denzel Ward, Peppers, Gaines to name a few. Garrett too on spite of a few penalties for offsides.

    Needs improvement:
    Still too many penalties
A few questionable play calls (the double reverse might’ve worked had Mayfield actually blocked or Streeter cuts inside. Maybe OL or RB is at fault. Might need to see that particular play again.
Was this becaose the calls were bad or blocking? Not sure but the run game also suffered.

Even the defense, as well as they played could’ve played better. Some of their over pursuits left them susceptible to screens & super short passes.

Maybe I’m being a little too critical but it’s because I believe we can become the best defense in the NFL.

The present looks decent. The future is bright.

Njoku’s drops need to stop, but did anyone else catch his blocking? Dude has better technique and effort than 4/5 of our o-line. He absolutely mugged Suggs on an island a couple times; that’s nearly unheard of.

Effort was never an issue with Njoku. He’s trying to be a complete TE, he was just never really asked to block in college. I’m betting his effort has a lot to do with his drops… he’s thinking way too hard.

Mayfield also hasn’t mastered “taking something off” on his passes to make them more catchable (not unexpected, it’s one of last things young QBs learn), so I’d expect drops to happen during his development.

Not saying it’s all on him; especially a Tight End needs to be a reliable outlet wirb glue for hands. But the drops aren’t all on tbr recievers.

I haven’t noticed the velocity as being an issue at all. Quite the opposite, because of the tight spiral and good accuracy, Mayfield throws a very catchable ball. I think the difference between his passes and the softer passes from Tyrod that the guys were catching all through training camp is the biggest cause for the drops.

DA and Weeden, they had touch issues. Mayfield? Not so much.

Unless it’s a screen to the RB that travels 5 yards or a dump-off check-down kinda thing I want every pass coming in like a fucking missile. These candy-ass receivers are pro’s, if they can’t catch a pass like a rocket with 2 hands then they shouldn’t be playing football in the NFL, period. End of story, no debate, it’s bullshit. The defenses in the NFL have almost no ability to do anything. You can’t touch the QB’s, you can’t touch the receivers, you can’t do shit. All these guys have to go on anymore is speed. Windows in NFL passing lanes open and close in miliseconds, there’s no time for any bullshittery. The passes need to be fired in there like bolts of lighting on a rope or nothing good is gonna happen.

If the receivers can’t get their shit together and adjust to that then they can go lay concrete for a living.
