ShooterModeratorI think that there is no chance of that happening. Not only is Collins ‘THE” starter, it allows us to have fantastic depth at the position. No drop off as players rotate in and out. That’s how a defense stays fresh all game and physically dominates an opponent in the 4th quarter.
No. Twice.
Also your title is misleading, it made me think you knew something (lol) or saw something. No.

the dudeParticipantShooter nailed it. They would more likely just release him. But the depth at line backer is really needed late into the season.
This team has a lot of potential. Let’s hope loser Hue doesn’t blow it….. But he probably will lose.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

He won the preseason.I just think we have such a position of strength and so much depth that we’re either cutting someone good, or trading someone away. I’d prefer the latter. No way any of those guys can hide out on our practice squad.

What team has a surplus at a position of need that helps the Browns. It takes to to make a trade happen.
Oh yeah seriously whats the position of need? Maybe OT or DT possibly….. but I can’t see anyone being moved this late, but we will see.

soupParticipantCypress Hill wrote a song about you. This trade won’t happen. No need to let go of depth with all the rotation teams do these days.
Freedom!!!

IceKeymasterI hadn’t read Labbe’s article or seen Terry’s take before making this post. They probably lurk here on BFT for ideas for articles because we always have such a rich, football-centric discussion that never devolves into memes or mom jokes.
But yeah, he’s an asset that we’re paying a lot for that we almost certainly won’t get good return on investment. Him being 4th or 5th on the depth chart makes him prime trade bait.

I disagree.
Let’s not forget that we still have the most cap room in the league. His 12 million really doesn’t mean shit to us.
This is football, and people get injured. Wouldn’t you rather have 6 interchangeable LB’ers with no dropoff in talent as they move in and out? If one goes down with a bad injury, there’s no loss of production? I’d sure as shit pay 12 million for that.
Even discussing this is ludicrous.

Seriously what the fuck is the triple pickle?

How about the fact that we have 3 real DT’s on our roster? Would you trade our 4th or 5th LB for a guy who might be our 2nd best DT? I’d pull the trigger on that for sure. I’m not talking about getting nothing for him, I’m talking about getting value in return. He doesn’t even play special teams, which is important in a 2nd string LB.
Not considering this?

Also the 3rd pickle is key.

ParticipantAm I the only one that remembers how much the defense changed when Collins went out last year? What was it, the lions game where he was hurt? The defense was suffocating them until Collins gets hurt (on an INT, no less) and the game completely changed.
He’s more than a solid starter, he’s an IMPACT player. To trade him, we would need to get an IMPACT player in return, and I don’t see that happening. So, pass.

But he’s already been demoted to 2nd string. And I don’t mean they save him for 3rd and long pass rush situations, he’s fallen behind Avery as a pass rusher too.
Collins definitely made some plays, but now we have Kendricks who is a lot better, and Avery who has more upside.

ShooterModeratorBut he’s already been demoted to 2nd string.
Let’s see who’s where when we pla Pitt before we start talking about starters being demoted. Running with the 2’s for the 2nd game of the preseason does not in any way show or convince me of anything.
but now we have Kendricks who is a lot better
Woah woah woah there speed racer pump……..those…….brakes. In fact, no, fuck that, slam them. Slam them hard. Give yourself whiplash if you need to. This is an amazingly bold statement considering there’s very little to back it up with and your level of certainty in making it. It might be time for you to have a Snickers or something.

IceKeymasterYou’re right about the depth chart. It’s just preseason. Avery AKA “The Walking Muscle” looked really good last night.
If Ward is down for any period of time I’d absolutely trade one of our LB’s for a good CB.

You know who else looked really good last night? I’ll give you a hint, …..he had an interception in the red zone.

To quote the Ragin Cajun in old school: “I have nothing to add. That was perfect.”
But I will add that Collins is listed as a starter on the unofficial depth chart.
