Freedom!!!
August 24, 2019 at 9:48 pm #16472IceKeymasterWOW!
They say his heart’s just not in it anymore….
August 25, 2019 at 7:32 pm #16473MDP Sack AttackParticipantDude made $97 million before he turned 30 and has a degree from Stanford and a lifetime of endorsements to fall back on.
I’m not sure why more players don’t retire early, when they have giant contracts.
August 26, 2019 at 12:53 pm #16479ShooterModeratorMy favorite so far has been all the assholes calling him out/criticizing him. Dudes had multiple concussions, a lacerated kidney, torn rib cartilage, a season-ending shoulder injury that took over a year to recover from, and now he’s got a lingering calf/ankle problem that’s probably going to requite surgery as well. The guy got the shit kicked out of him constantly while he played.
I can’t believe that people have the balls to dismiss the fact that football is a violent, severe-injury-inducing sport and that the people playing it are actual human beings. Between gambling and fantasy sports people view athletes as nothing more than stats, or stat producing names that get paid millions of dollars so they should just shut up and go produce.
I’m glad he fuckin’ quit. Good for him. He’s 29 and rich. Why bother getting the shit kicked out of himself so that by the time he’s 50 he’s basically a cyborg/Vader clone made up of metal parts keeping him alive and constantly being in pain. Fuck that.
August 26, 2019 at 2:23 pm #16480soupParticipant@shooter it’s because he quit on his team with 2 weeks left in preseason. Smart thing would’ve been to talk with management and get put on IR for the year so the roster spot opens and retire at years end. It’s a bad look what he did and I don’t blame fans for their anger

What he said. How about retiring BEFORE your team’s draft? At least BEFORE training camp.
August 26, 2019 at 7:17 pm #16484ShooterModeratorOh cry about it.
Look if I’m Indy fan I’m pissed. I’m salty. I’m depressed.
Was this like the worst possible time to do this? Fuck yeah it was. This pulls the rug out from an entire season and it just leaves everyone hanging. It really just takes a wrecking ball to the whole franchise. I get it. I totally understand all of the frustration and commentary on how shitty this was. All justified. You’ll get no arguments from me.
But that dude woke up the other day and thought to himself “this shit is never going to end. I’m miserable. I can’t take it anymore, I’m tired of being in pain and I fucking hate this game now. I’ll never be able to be there for my teammates”.
Would you all rather he lied? Strung everyone along and bullshitted his way through an entire season so that when he did it later they can all look at him and throw “wait you’ve known this since August?” in his face?
Get the fuck outta here.
He knew it was over, he knew his commitment wasn’t up to par where it needed to be and he knew his head and his heart wasn’t in it anymore. Why wait? Get it over with and do your franchise a favor. That’s what he did.
Anyone who sees fault in what he did is………you’re wrong.
You all know what it takes to play this game. What you have to prepare yourself for mentally. How you have to approach things at this level. You have absolutely got to be completely committed. There is no halfway at this stage. There just isn’t.
Especially if you’re the fucking QB. The leader. The face of the city, the franchise.
People may not like it at all and I full well understand that they don’t and I get it, I do. But everyone who feels that way needs to understand that he did everyone a favor by doing it like this.
He was honest.
I’m never gonna fault a man for being fucking honest.
Good for him.
