What Jackson enjoyed was Griffin going through his progressions and making the kind of read necessary to succeed in the NFL.

This^^^^^^, is what’s good to hear. Griffin has never done this before. If, (and granted that’s an “if” the size of Texas) he can actually learn how to do this consistently, and perfect it, Griffin has the chance to become a dominant QB.

I’m still not getting excited about it though, it’s a lot to overcome. He’s just never done this before, and he has an enormous learning curve.

But it is good to hear this.

I didn’t post it for excitement about Griffin – but rather excitement than Hue Jackson actually knows what he’s doing. It’s such a nice change. Now hopefully Jimmy the Hick gives him a full 5 years to implement this the right way.

Well considering that Hue is supposed to be a QB czar, Griffin succeeding is a testament to Hue doing a good job. Understand what I’m saying?

Absolutely. Just wanted to reenforce that I’m not stating Griffin is going to be great. I’m pointing out Jackson is about the little nuances of the game unlike previous regimes

This is the first time in quite a long time I have been excited about a coach. I was pretty amped up for Mangini.

I’m guardedly optimistic about this staff. But I do have to worry about his leash. I can’t see this team winning more than 6 games this year, I just can’t. 3-5 is probably the most realistic. If that happens, is Hue gonna get whacked? He’s clearly just on another level from Shurmur or Pettine, but if the results after 1 year are the same, is Jimmy the knee jerker gonna fuck it all up? I surely hope not.

I liked Pettine…until he started “coaching”.

Looks like the Offense I progressing. Now the Defense…..uhhhhh….prayers may be the best option.

Regardless of RGIII’s play, I applaud the Browns this offseason. After the Rmas traded up, RG3 was the best of a bunch of bad options, and the Browns had the good sense to get that option before they needed it.

I’m not saying he’s going to be a great QB, but if my choices are selling the farm for Goff, drafting Wentz, or RG3 for money, I’m going with RG3.

The qb position is all or nothing. There’s no such thing as a semi-franchise qb. Hue gets that, and that’s why the Browns went for it Mike Napoli style. At the qb position, it’s better to strike out 4 times and hit one homer than get a handful of base hits. Hue’s going for the homer.

I agree with your point, I do, but this is a bad analogy. What if your home run is with the bases empty and down 4, but the handful of base hits all come with runners in scoring position? I’m gonna take the base hits and all those RBI’s. Maybe you don’t get any RBI’s because just like the homer the bases were empty. Fine, but you’re still on base multiple times and putting your teammates in position to get you over and home and thus score more runs. The guy that hits 45 home runs a year but strikes out 190 times isn’t really worth much, ask Adam Dunn. The guy who can bat .329 every year slapping singles and doubles around is always going to have a place on a team because he helps them win. Ichiro at 41 is proof.

Sorry, I went a little baseball-ey there lol.

Your point is valid though, and I agree. It was the lowest risk highest reward move, so there’s something to be said for it. I hope it works out, but if it doesn’t I’m not going to be crushed, I’m just going to say “well, it was RG3, what did we expect?” ya know.

    I’m okay with that.

No one in the draft blew me away, I couldn’t really commit to anything/anyone, and I think the Browns felt the same way, so taking this route is okay with me I guess. I thought it was a disciplined move, and one that I’m sure was tough to make. (Although, I still think we’d have been better off just staying with McCown but, that another argument) We’re not used to that kind of leadership around here so in a way it was refreshing. We’re much more used to panic. “Oh shit we need a QB we need a QB…who, who, who, which one, aaaahhhh uuuuuhhhhhh fuckIdon’tknowtakeWeeden!!!!!” Lmao, that shit never worked.
