ShooterModeratorHe’s still D coordinator and will be calling the defense.

soupParticipantHe won’t be with us when the new coach is picked. So only 8 games left of him (unless he wins a minimum 6 of the 8 remaining games)

MDP Sack AttackParticipantThe more I think about this, the more I think we should have waited until the season was over. Now we’re stuck with Bounty-Gate guy as our head coach, not exactly a great look.

Hue and Haley were beginning to damage Mayfield. That’s exactly why they are gone. Most important piece of this puzzle needs protected

IceKeymasterIn the short term firing coaches never makes things better. It is the long term where the firing makes a positive change. For the rest of this year we’re down our 2 most important coaches. It’s like being down your first and 2nd string QB’s halfway through the season. We all have seen over and over what that’s like.
I don’t expect these coaching changes to bring us wins this year. Hopefully they do help with Mayfield’s long term prospects. He was getting hit way too much in this scheme.

I know what you’re saying, but in a rookie year where he wasn’t even supposed to start Mayfield has just had both his head coach and offensive coordinator taken away eight games into the season, and is set to be coached on offense by the running backs coach. There’s no way shape or form that is a better scenario for him to learn than having Hue and Haley explaining NFL offenses to him, even if they were bad at the actual in-game coaching.

the dudeParticipantToday is the second greatest day in the history of this organization because that dumb fuck is gone.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

ParticipantThe only thing I initially questioned was the timing, but I’m starting to come around even on that.
I mean, you’d have better odds playing the lottery than betting the Browns to beat the Chiefs this weekend, so there’s no W/L harm done this week. You essentially get a free week of experience for Kitchens, and then optimistically you have a small chance against the Falcons based on their own ineptitude so far this season. Then you get a bye week to evaluate the first two weeks.
Am I expecting improvement? No. Just the opposite. But when it comes to making an in season change, this is really as good a time as any.

soupParticipantHaley was hindering Mayfield by not incorporating things familiar to make decisiiquickwr for him. Hue wanted the opposite. Rumor is Mayfield didn’t like Hue. I let everyone know when Haley was hired he’s known as a royal prick. They got rid of the toxic elements now. He still has his QB coach and a guy familiar with the offense calling plays. He called the game 4 of preseason

That’s the thing with Haley: he’s a prick. He may have been ok under Williams for the remainder of the season, but what good is that? Williams isn’t a HC candidate, and Haley isn’t gonna work with an outside guy at HC. And I want no part of Haley at HC. Might as well get rid of him now.
