IceKeymasterInteresting read, I wonder where he got those details from.
I absolutely hate the list of possible HC’s at the end of the article.

mike barnesParticipantIt’s all about Baker and his development period, look for a young up and coming OC or college coach to be hired shortly after the season ends.

I absolutely hate the list of possible HC’s at the end of the article. My guy is Matt Campbell. For 3 reasons:
1.) he coached, with a lot of success, at the university of Toledo
2.) I’m a UT alumnus
3.) if I’m not predisposed to liking a coach for some arbitrary reason (such as coaching at my alma mater), I’ll be predisposed to not liking them, and looking forward to the inevitable NEXT HC.

IceKeymasterI’m not excited about anyone. Hue and Haley didn’t work out at all, but that’s a hell of a lot of NFL offensive experience that we got rid of. I don’t like the idea of bringing in someone with very little or zero NFL experience to teach our franchise QB the ways of the NFL.

Developing the QB is more on the QB coach and the offensive coordinator. The HC just has to bring in the right people, and oversee everything from a high level. Keep everybody on the same page.

MDP Sack AttackParticipantTo me it’s Josh McDaniels. End list.

the dudeParticipant@dawgedawg UT alumnis here also…. Really like Matt and was said to see him go. Not sure if he is pro worthy, but he will be coaching someone big someday for sure.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

Just not sure about this…. Didn’t he draft Tebow in the first round?

Yes, and there was a LOT of disfunction while he was HC in Denver. The thought is that he wasn’t ready to be a HC at that time, and that he’s learned from it and IS ready now.
Personally, I don’t buy it. I think his success is more a product of NE’s system than his own cleverness.

Agreed. I could see him taking over for Urban if he decides to step down as the rumors (that I don’t believe) say he might.

soupParticipantOn the coaching front, like the draft, I’m going to trust Dorsey. His track record of drafts speaks for itself. He knows the game

Agreed. Plus, the coaches for the teams he worked for previously were Andy Reid and Mike McCarthy, so I think he has an idea of what a successful NFL HC should look like.

Personally, I don’t buy it. I think his success is more a product of NE’s system than his own cleverness.I don’t know about a “lot” of dysfunction, but regardless it was a decade ago and he was the same age as a lot of his players at the time. Rarely do coaches get it right on their first try, and by the time the offseason rolls around he’ll have had eight years to reflect on his previous experience.
As for his being a product of NE’s system, evidently they thought highly enough of him to bring him back just before the playoffs in 2011. They’ve also made him the highest paid assistant coach in the league, which isn’t something you’d do for a “system” guy. Dude has been Tom Brady’s coach more often than not since 2004, and even led Matt Cassel to the playoffs one year. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have coaching Mayfield.

It is very likely Mike McCarthy will be available after this season. I’d take him over McDaniels any day. McDaniels with Tom Brady is amazing. McDaniels without Tom Brady has proven to be awful.

ShooterModeratorI think his success is more a product of NE’s system
To be fair, New Englands system is pretty much HIS system. Aside from Denver he’s been the OC in NE since prohibition.
Also, Tim Tebow is a horrible quarterback. Putrid. Yet, McDaniels not only got that dude to the playoffs, but actually beat the Steelers with him.
Just sayin’.
He’s not my first choice, I’d take Mike McCarthy any day of the week, but I wouldn’t be upset if it were him.
