ParticipantOk, so I would think that at 2-6, all of the “pivotal moments” that could have had a more positive effect for this team (namely, more wins and hopes for a playoff spot) are firmly behind us. Due to injury (again), we will have none other than Mr. Manziel starting for Ol’ Ironsides McCown. Things…heh…things aren’t looking too good for us here. I fully expect a loss here. But…
Well, I’m on the fence with Johnny. I could care less about his personal life (though in that, I truly wish him the best), and have been a fan of this team longer than he’s even been alive. My concern with him is simply this- can he play football at this level?
I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him to make that call. By all reports (including a guy named Joe Thomas), his maturity and study of the game has been a complete turnaround from the previous year. So, he’s got that going for him. And in the limited action he’s had this year, he’s done a decent job with his reps…but putting the ball on the carpet 4 times is a big knock against him.
So I hope he has that cleaned up, or the Bengals will eat him alive…much like before. Talk about being put in the same room with the snake that bit you…and all the lights are out. He (and the rest of this team) will have much to overcome to even have hope of winning this game. The halftime ineffectiveness that seems to be what the identity of this group REALLY is (run-first my ass) needs to be changed. The players have to start buying in, the coaches have to call better plays, and Johnny needs to become an NFL quarterback.
All in one night. After a short week.
Personally, I don’t expect a win. And I don’t expect much, not after what I’ve seen thus far. But what I would like to see is this under-talented team go out and play their asses off, and even if we take a loss, at least make it worth it to us fans. Give us a reason to hope for a future.
Best of luck to you, Johnny. You’re gonna need it.

InactiveGood luck Johnny. Make all the bad things I’ve thought and written about you make me look like a clueless idiot.
