I am just curious – have they been testing him the whole time? I don’t want to be shocked if he can’t pass a drug test.

    Hue Jackson is a loser.

I hope he passes and gets reinstated. That’s the only way we can trade him.

No way do I give up Gordon for the 6th or 7th rounder he’d get at this point. He’s not getting paid a ton, and despite his running afoul of the NFL’s war on weed, by all accounts he’s well liked in the locker room and is a hard worker. Keeping him, to me, is a no-risk high-reward gamble. Best case scenario you have an All-Pro wide out who fits Hue Jackson’s offense to a T. Worst case, he’s been out of the game for too long and can’t regain his form, so he’s a 4th WR that defenses still have to respect. Also worst case, he’s suspended again and sits on his couch.

I’m with MDP here, no sense in trading him. If we could get a 1st for him, absolutely, but as mentioned he’s a 6th or 7th rounder at best. That’s just dumb. He’s 1st round talent, we all know that, so you keep him and see how it goes. Either he comes back and is studly, keeps his head clean and stays this time, or he doesn’t. But to get rid of him for a guy that’s destined for the practice squad or won’t even make the roster…….that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. No risk, super high reward.

For a 6th or 7th rounder? No. But for a 3rd rounder or higher I’d love it. The guy is guaranteed to get suspended again. At this point if he even walks past a bar Goodell will suspend him.

Well liked in the locker room… by Johnny Fuckwad. Those two are tied at the hip. That’s his greatest influence. I’d love to put him an Johnny together for a high pick.

He would have to do so voluntarily, as (I would assume) the league cannot legally force him to be tested while he is suspended without pay.

    From the ESPN article:

“In support of their applications, players generally put forward verifiable testing records and/or submit to periodic NFL testing during the banishment period,” league spokesman Greg Aiello said in an email.

so basically, we have no clue if he is sober or not.

I’d assume he has been sober, if he gets reinstated.

Reading between the lines on that quote, I think Aiello is saying “we can’t force you to take a test while you’re under indefinite suspension, but if you want back into the league you’ll need to voluntarily submit to testing during the suspension”.

So I’d have to assume the insane amount f testing he’s been under since he joined the league hadn’t stopped.

Agreed, but again there’s the issue. No way anyone would give that up for him.

Also, I’m still of the opinion that his last suspension was total bullshit. He was wrong in making the assumption that his required abstinence from alcohol ended after the season was over and he should have clarified that with the league, but it was indeed AFTER the season ended and he was on a plane with other players and coaches. Our coach put up a pic on Instagram of them on the plane, and the NFL had people waiting for him at the airport when it landed. Gestapo anyone? Having 2 drinks on a plane ride to Vegas during the offseason is not year-long-suspension worthy by any stretch.

I get it, he broke the rules, but c’mon let’s have a bit of common sense when applying them.
