Funchess is a guy that I think can step right in and replace Cameron as a zone buster/ matchup nightmare. He’s a hybrid WR/TE but no matter what you call him he’s a guy that you move around to break defenses. He’s over 6’4″ and high-points the ball. Good luck covering him with a 5’10” DB. Although he had a rather slow 40 time at the combine (4.7 seconds), he plays with plenty of speed in pads. A receiver like this can be a QB’s best friend. He’s got an enormous catch radius so if he’s single covered, he’s not covered at all.

Because of his 40 time he may fall to the 2nd round. I like him there and I think he might be the best receiver available at that spot.

This is what offensive coordinator John DeFilipo said he’s looking for in a recent presser:

A guy that can move around, be a mismatch on a linebacker, can run a choice route, get in and out of breaks on third and fourth down, can win against man-to-man coverage. That’s what I think we are in the market for. Everybody is looking for that personnel mismatch to be able to go out and do all those things. It just totally broadens the field for you and widens and makes you much more diverse

I think that describes Funchess to a T.
