For me, I think that’s what makes me question his sanity. The sheer level of how bizarre this all is. The women he allegedly attacked were all elderly. Living in trailer parks. He was robbing the trailers too.
Why is a Pro-Bowl former NFL player, son of a Hall of Famer, breaking into and robbing trailers in a trailer park and raping elderly women?
Because hes lost his damn mind.
To use insanity as a defense you have to show that he didn’t know that what he was doing was wrong. Legally insane people don’t run when they get caught because they don’t think they broke the law.
While the crimes he was arrested for are crazy and disgusting, it takes more than that to qualify for an insanity defense.
I am not trying to make an excuse or anything for what anybody does, because all of these men played a game where they were aware that they had potential for brain injury. Their parents chose to sign them up for football when they were kids and it should be pretty common sense that when someones head hits another head, something is going to happen.
I agree with many of the posters here, that what is happening with some of these guys is basically insane and makes absolutely no sense. Its like they cannot control it.
Of course, my opinion has always been that if a person is in jail, there most likely is something not right in their head and they have a disability. Anyone who would commit a crime and go to jail is quite simply not right in their head.
