I hate adding to our coaching carousel, but this had to happen. When I feel bad for a head coach because he’s clearly in over his head, it’s not a good sign.
Hopefully we move fast, and get someone with experience at the job. I’d love to keep this roster mostly intact, and that’s the best path to doing so.
He wasn’t ready. It had to be done, but on a personal level, you feel bad for anybody losing his job. Really, he shouldn’t have been hired in the first place. Good luck to him.

I agree with your premise, but he made himself in over his head. Reality is he could’ve kept t he support staff around him. He could’ve hired an OC with a similar philosophy and built off Haley’s playbook instead of reinventing the wheel. He could’ve actually had players practice. He could’ve had Mayfield play in pre season games the right amounts of time.

Soup, I agree with a lot of what you said. He didn’t help himself. And I was screaming as much as anybody else about him at times during the season. It’s just a shitty business sometimes.
Kitchens is a really likable guy. I want to hang out with him. We can wear “Pittsburgh started it” shirts. But he wasn’t ready to be a HC. How can you take the best skill players in the league and completely minimize them, and expect to keep your job?
Sigh. The hunt continues again.
