soupParticipantIt’s no scret how much I loathed this pick with all my being. that said, it’s nice to see he’s saying all the right things and is putting on a front that he is coachable (I’m not saying he isn’t or he’s lying, but we’ve all seen this story many times).
I like his process of 1 step at a time as well which is the only way to actually build something.

DawgPoundDudeParticipantBullshit. 0-16. Manziel signing with us would have been better.
Damn, I just went all Soup on Soup.

Do you want his signature too?
I’m with many, I was far less than thrilled with the pick. But it wasn’t to the level of when they took Manziel and Weeden, because I went BALLISTIC about those two (especially Weeden).
Let’s let him play and see what comes. At least he’s not walking into the same situation that Manziel, Weeden, or even Quinn were. There’s no expectation for him to be the face of the franchise. There’s no expectation for him to be the savior at QB. There’s no expectation for him to even play this year. That alone is worth it’s weight in gold.
He’s actually surrounded by a competent coaching staff too, something those 3 other clowns didn’t have.
Hopefully we’re not having any type of serious discussion about Kizer until at least August of next year.

ParticipantI hated the pick as well, though I’ve come around to it seeing as he was picked at the end of the 2nd. Like Shooter said, it’s nothing as bad as Weeden and Manziel.
That said, talk is cheap. Manziel said he lived with the playbook, took selfies of him studying on planes. Everything he said are basically the same things every rookie says. This is a meaningless fluff piece.
That that said, my concerns with Kizer have never been about whether he’ll work hard and be coachable. My concern has been based on whether he has the mental fortitude to succeed in the NFL, which his multiple benchings last year lead me to believe he does not. But, here’s hoping I’m wrong.

soupParticipantI agree that I think he’ll be shit. But the one subtle difference in his talk is that rather than saying “I’m going to compete for the starting job” he’s saying “Before I can actually compete I have to learn X, Y and Z first.”
He seems to have his head on right. I think he’ll suck nuts like Geno Smith and I think it was a poor waste of a high pick that could’ve been better served elsewhere.

IceKeymasterSaying the right thing and doing the right thing are far from the same. We saw that with Johnny 8ball. I think we are united in not liking Kiser as a draft prospect but this seems like a fair QB competition so I don’t care who wins, I’ll believe they are the best QB on the team right now.

GOD I hope you weren’t taking me seriously there.

I’ll never forget that. It was like you caught your best friend in bed with your little sister. Downright nuclear.
Let’s let him play and see what comes.
Yup, that’s been my approach to this team since like…damn.
He’s actually surrounded by a competent coaching staff too, something those 3 other clowns didn’t have.
Best staff we’ve had since the early 90s. All people see is that we almost went winless last year as a testament to how this team is coached. I think we have one helluva staff in place.

I wasn’t, and please don’t call me God, Shooter is fine. Continue to worship me though.

I’ll miss Dawgbones most of all because I’ll never again be able to go back and reference the thread after Weedens first game. I don’t wanna break my arm patting myself on the back, but that OP should’ve been etched onto metal and put in display somewhere lol.

DawgSoldierParticipantKizer shows A LOT of promise…the big question is can he realize that and put it all together.
Hopefully it happens and the Browns find their QB going forward….that way all those assets they have saved up for a new QB in 18 can go to making the team something to contend with.

mike barnesParticipantDawg soldier has the right take and I do think this kids got a very good shot at being ” the guy ” before next year in any case I expect him to play some meaningful snaps this year so the staff can judge if we have to use extra draft capitol next draft season.

I hope he doesn’t see a down. Why? Because that means we are winning.
