He’s added 20 lbs of muscle since the end of the season, which is damn impressive. Maybe bulking up, in addition to reuniting with Horton, will help this kid finally live up to his potential.

Hopefully he’s off the PEDs now. This is what Ice and I wanted when we drafted him. Bulk up.

Um, I’m not a scientist here, but wouldn’t being ON the PED’s help in bulking up?

And further, if he was on the before, I hope that someone let out the phrase “you’re doing it wrong” at some point.

There are PED’s like adderall that help you lose weight. But the majority of them are there to put on muscle.

I get how he put on the size and the diet that did would do that. But can he keep it on and did he gain functional strength?

That, but more so, did he lose any speed? Some guys put on muscle without losing speed, some don’t. Which one he is will determine if he can actually be a factor this year.

While I’m glad that he added the muscle mass, I’m also wondering, “What took him so freaking long to buy a pass on the clue bus?”

Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!

Only because the quote was highlighted…..

    Yeah, that’s what Adderall does.

I have no idea why this one even speaks. I really don’t.

Exactly. This guy’s been barely treading water in the NFL for years because he gets blown up by linemen and tossed around by RB’s and just NOW he’s deciding that he needs to be bigger? The guy is built like Todd Pinkston.

Pettine wanted him to stay light so he could cover backs and TE’s and saw him a coverage backer only. So Mingo complied with what his HC asked him to do.

My point is as an adult to add that much muscle in that much time would more than likely require a steroid/HGH type thing. Hopefully he got off them. As for those asking why it took so long – he realized this is probably his last hurrah so he took them in an effort to prolong his career. Obviously all speculation on my part

Nooooot really. Especially at his age. I added 10lbs of lean muscle in 5 weeks, and I’m 38. Mingo is what, 25 26?

A guy like that, with his recources……20 pounds in even 2 months would be really, really easy to do.

Well, it turns out his secret was working out with a grandma.

Seriously. I can’t make this up lol.

He had no fat on him to begin with. Typically for an adult male of his size to add straight 20 LBs of muscle requires help. (You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think the majority of players utilize things like HGH. That’s like saying few players in the NFL smoke pot and have dog fighting rings).

That’s just not factual, accurate, or true.

I’m not saying players don’t use HGH, I assume many do and find ways around the testing, but saying a man in his mid 20’s needs help to add 15-20 pounds of muscle is absolutely absurd, not to mention highly ill-informed.

If you put in the work, the results are almost automatic. Especially when you’re pounding over 5,000 calories a day.

Why are we assuming he’s doing drugs? The guy has been teensy weensy his whole career. It’s not like he’s Mr. Universe adding another 20 pounds of muscle, that would raise eyebrows. All Mingo is doing is getting to where he should have been his whole career. 20 pounds is less than 10% of his body weight, it doesn’t take PED’s to do that. Hell, I think he should have added 30.

    We’re not, Soup is.

And I agree with the rest of what you said.

20LBs and 20LBs of muscle are vastly different.

Thank you for that profound statement Captain Obvious. It’s not that difficult to add 10% muscle mass in 8 months but you seem to think the only way to accomplish that is PED’s. Explain yourself.

Um, so his off-season started last August?

He did this in less than 4 months. Not 8

Again, so what? In 4 months that’s 5 pounds of muscle a month.

Do you have any idea how easy it is to gain 5 pounds of muscle in a month?

Why do you keep thinking/insisting that this is some sort of insurmountable feat of sheer impossibility? It’s not hard. It’s not hard at all. Especially when you’re 25 and eating over 5,000 calories a day and working out 6 days a week.

5 pounds of muscle a month. Ooooooooooh, only hardcore ‘roiders and bodybuilders could possibly pull that off!!!

Stop talking about this. It’s clear that you have absolutely no idea whatsoever what you’re talking about.

It was 20 fuckin’ pounds dude, not 50.

So Soup, how much weight can a guy add in 4 months? What’s the upper limit without PED’s? 18? 12? 5?
