R1-2: Carson Wentz QB North Dakota State rSr 6-5 233 CBS rank 10th overall
Wentz possesses a NFL-style skill-set with his size, athleticism and arm talent, including the field vision to work through reads and make sound decisions. He is exactly what the Browns need in Quarterback that can win the AFC North. He has the ability to play in and out of structure when thing break down and the athleticism and arm talent to throw on the run or get a chunk of yards with his legs taking it downfield his self.R2-32: *Michael Thomas WR Ohio State rJr 6-3 210 CBS rank 36th overall
Thomas is detailed route-runner with little wasted movements to create spacing at the stem. His floor projects as an ideal No. 2 wide receiver at the next level due to his savvy footwork, body control and ball-skills to be a reliable possession target. Coaching and hard work will be key into him becoming a #1 WR if he can.R3-65: Kyler Fackrell+ 34OLB Utah State rSr 6-5 244 CBS rank 70th overall
High motor player with high intangibles and fantastic work ethic. Blew his ACL out in 2014 and had a so so senior season coming back from the injury. Played in the 34 at Utah state so there isn’t a projection to a new base scheme issue. Adds another pass rusher to Horton’s D who also has experiance dropping in coverage and covering TE’sR4-100: *Scooby Wright III+ ILB Arizona Jr 6-0 246 CBS rank 114th overall
Hard pick for me here as I was basically picking between CBS’s 4th and 5th ranked ILB’s I went with the 5th ranked guy because i believe he has much more upside and is more explosive. I wish I could of drafted them both. THAT would be a formidable duo in the middle of the defense. Anyways Wright was a FANTASTIC play making LB in AZ’s 3-3-5 base defense in 2014 Registering Top 5 in Tackles, Sacks and Tackles for a loss. And took home the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award and the Chuck Bednarik Award in 2014. In 2015 he blew out a kne and hurt his foot so that kept him out of all but 3 games. He reminds me of young Chris Spielman type with his jedi like instincts and ability to get downhill very quickly to the ball carrier or rush the passer.R4-139 comp: Jerell Adams TE South Carolina Sr 6-5 244 CBS rank 139th overall
Has a basketball background as well as experience playing s SEC talent. Never really showed out production wise then again his teams QB play wasn’t the greatest and the scheme didn’t emphasise the TE much. This pick is more about athletic upside and value than anything else.R5 – 141: *Rashard Robinson LSU LSU Jr 6-2 182 CBS rank 154th overall
Okay this is complete gamble on kid with all the athletic ability in the world but all kinds of red flags from academic to misdemeanors. But 3rd day picks are where you can gamble a bit. 6-2 lanky corners that started over NFL talent at LSU which has become DB U a bit might be worth a role of the dice.R5-171 comp: Jordan Payton WR UCLA Sr 6-1 216 CBS rank 171st overall
Payton is one of those sneaky fast guys that somehow gets behind defenses and tracks the ball very well over his shoulder using his wide frame to shield the DB on the long ball.R5-173 comp: Leon Allen+ RB Western Kentucky Sr 5-11 235 CBS rank 176th overall
Allen has patience to let thing develope vision to see the holes/running lanes and the ability slide in and out of both while on the move. The reason he is ranked this low is he hurt his left so the medical evaluations will be key in his selection.R6-179: D.J. Reader DT/NT/34DE? Clemson Sr 6-3 340 CBS rank 181st overall
Reader ranking is a result IMO of him taking off 2 months for personal issues which was supported by his coaching staff. Personal interviews into that issue will be very important into his draft selection. While not a red flag IMO it certainly a yellow one that bears investigating. On the Field when he came back he acquitted himself very well in Clemson’s run to the national title. Playing both the 1 and 3 technique in an even front. This pick kind of reminds me of the Browns drafting and actually developing A.Rubin.R7-221: Soma Vainuku FB Southern California rSr 5-11 249 CBS rank 278th overall
A pile driver of a run blocker and a sneaky fast option in the pass game along with being a personal protector of the QB. Some may question the 50 spot reach to which I would reply: If you can get a starter out of 7th rounder does it matter what they are really ranked?http://cloudassetserver.com/STL/posts/185/sp_04_976x0.jpg
February 18, 2016 at 1:02 pm #4186MavParticipantI don’t hate it. But we aren’t getting Eric Berry or Wilkerson, and per usual we disagree on the qb. I prefer Goff to Wentz, BUT unlike in the past I have full faith in whoever Hue wants at qb. Good write up.

There are other FS’s and 34DE’s to be had in FA. I could substitute lower priced guys if ya like.
As for Goff. The whole fact he comes from the Air Raid scheme makes me want to reach for a cross garlic and holy water. As those QB’s SUCK bad and have a 100% failure rate thus far in the NFL since the Air Raids inception.
That and IMO Wentz has a higher ceiling and is coachable and Jackson has a very good history of getting the most out of his QB’s.
