Refs rigged the game. Free 4 points for Steelers
Freedom!!!
September 10, 2018 at 9:41 pm #13286DawgPoundDudeParticipantYeah. No word on the phantom Josh Gordon penalty, nor the no-call on Haden.
Refs must have had Pete Morelli on speed dial.
September 11, 2018 at 12:38 am #13292ShooterModeratornor the no-call on Haden.
Most egregious pass interference call I’ve seen in sometime. Had Haden wrapping both arms around Gordons face, then use his helmet to springboard up his back like a spidermonkey and swat the ball away with one hand while wrapping the other completely around Gordons throat.
Ya know, I’ve discussed these penalties and the entire situation with multiple people, and here’s the reality: The Browns suck, and teams that suck get treated like they do. They don’t get calls and they don’t get the benefit of fair treatment. A team that knew how to win would have won that game anyway, and the Browns as a team simply don’t know how to win. You can’t force 6 turnovers in a game and lose. If the Browns want to start getting calls, and stop getting shit on by the refs, they need to win. You win games, you get calls. You don’t see teams like Pitt, Green bay, the Patriots, Atlanta, or any other team of that caliber getting shit on like that. Is it fair? Hell no it isn’t, but it’s been like this forever. It’s like an ump in baseball not giving a shitty pitcher the outside corner of the plate but ringing up hitter after hitter for the same pitch if it comes from a guy like Corey Kluber or Clayton Kershaw. Good teams and good players get the calls, and that how it is in sports.
It makes my blood boil, but if the Browns want to stop getting screwed the simple fact is they need to sack up and start winning games. Good teams overcome bad calls, period. Real teams win in spite of poor officiating. If it’s constantly coming down to bad officiating being the difference between winning and losing, you’re a shitty football team, and that’s all there is to it. I’m tired of screaming about the officiating and I’m tired of railing about how unfair a game is being called. I put the onus and responsibility of ending that on the Browns. Go kick someones ass. Win a game by 3 or 4 touchdowns. Beat the shit out of another team so bad that you make it abundantly clear that getting whistled for a holding call, or a block in the back, or not getting a pass interference call isn’t going to make one damn bit of difference because we’re going to smoke them anyway.
If they do that, and then do it again, and then consistently week in and week out look like a functioning, legitimate football team, I guarantee that you’ll see officiating in browns games get on the level real fucking quick.
The Browns are disrespected because that’s what they’ve earned. If they want it to change, then fucking go change it.

September 11, 2018 at 8:02 am #13298Dawg E. DawgParticipantCompletely agree on the calls they missed. Though, I will point out they did call a bunch of penalies against Pittsburgh, and I know off the top of my head there was a PI on Terrence Mitchell where he never turned his head around on AB tha the refs miss.
I think this was more a case of lack of experience with 4 refs retiring last year, than it is a designed conspiracy.
September 11, 2018 at 8:03 am #13299Dawg E. DawgParticipantAlthough, I do want to see if they were offsides on the final kick. It looked like they were to me, and Joe Thomas said he thought they were on his podcast.

September 11, 2018 at 8:57 am #13301soupParticipantSteelers were given the first 2.5 Q. We got last 1.5 and they got OT

Really? Huh, somehow I missed that.
September 11, 2018 at 9:47 am #13303IceKeymasterI agree with @Shooter’s overly-long rant. Some day we’ll be good enough to win games no matter what the refs do.
September 11, 2018 at 1:44 pm #13309the dudeParticipantYea shooters a dumb ass but he hit alot of it on the nose. The nfl has its favorites who will always get the benefit of the doubt…. I have always assumed referees bet on games.
Even watching the lions game last night there were two plays where Stafford was crushed and they were worst than what we saw on Saturday.
NFL officials dictate too many games. They can call a penalty every play. Every play there is illegal contact past 5 yards. Every play there is offensive holding. They call penalties when it benefits teams the most. It’s really bad.
Hue Jackson is a loser.
