Watching Ravens vs Jets because I am in the semi finals in fantasy .

Punt unquestionably hits a Raves player and Jets recover around the 2. It’s not a debate, it’s an obvious fact. Jets challenge. All announcers and official specialist “it hits him.”

Officials come back and say “play calls as stands” so ball stays with Ravens. Jets would’ve had it at Ravens 2. Score was 35-7. So I decide to check the over under- which is 44.

    Think about it

I think it’s a very legit concern. Legalizing NFL betting has put such a huge influx of money into the system that people are going to do everything they can to get an edge. Reffing has been so bad this season and last and gambling adds even more pressure. We need a sky ref at every game, we need to make ref’s full-time, they need to have a short presser after every game explaining their more controversial calls, and the ball needs to have electronic tracking.

The NFL’s officiating sucks and I don’t believe it has anything to do with gambling.

There is no consistency in a game let alone across the league.

    Something needs to be done.

Agree, and it mostly comes from rule changes that took place in the last decade. Since changing the rules regarding what is/isn’t a catch, interference, roughing, and illegal hits those calls have been a constant problem and the main source of inconsistency by refs.

I don’t believe it is because of rules changes. I believe it is because the NFL doesn’t properly train their officials.

Hopefully they do something about it this offseason. Time will tell.

I honestly don’t think the refs have suddenly gotten drastically worse. I think the NFL has tried too hard to perfect the reffing, and overextended instant replay.

So now, a play that you used to say “well, that was a bad call” and shrug it off 5 mins later, that play gets reviewed and discussed for 12 minutes before the call is even finalized, so it sticks with you for 6 hours instead of five minutes.

I have said from day one… Who monitors these guys. They could very easily tell their next door neighbor to put 25k on the game.

    Hue Jackson is a loser.
