November 3, 2021 at 6:35 pm #21247IceKeymasterSigh. Yet ANOTHER season without OBJ.
OBJ has 20% more targets than any other player on the team, yet he’s 4th in receptions. He’s been getting targets aplenty, just hasn’t been doing anything with them.
Put DPJ in his place. DPJ has only 15 targets but caught 13 of them and many of those 13 were highlight-worthy catches that gave us crucial 1st downs. And he averages more than 4 more yards per catch than OBJ.
I hope this doesn’t affect Landry’s attitude.

Andrew Berry is attempting one hell of a chess move to reduce the Browns salary obligation to OBJ.
Reports are they are converting part of OBJs salary to a signing bonus. So, the browns pay him MORE up front, but it increase the likleyhood OBJ gets claimed, which would mean the Browns would be off the hook for the remainder of his salary this season.
So, he had 8 million remaining in salary. If the browns cut him, they pay all 8 unless he gets claimed, in which case they pay him nothing. That’s not likely becuase he’s clearly not worth 8 mil right now.
Instead, they convert, say, 6 mil to a signing bonus and give it to him now. Then a team that claims him only has to pay 2 mil, and if that happens, the browns save 2 million.
Now, OBJ really has no reason to WANT to be claimed, so my guess is the Browns would have to throw in some extra money to make the rework happen, so they’d actually end up paying him 6.5-7 million, and he’d have a salary of 2 million, so he ends up making an extra .5 – 1 million this year.
BUT BUT BUT, increasing the likely hood he gets claimed also increases the likely hood he goes to a BAD team at the top of the waiver order and not a contender.
If it works out like I outlined above, Andrew Berry deserves a damn award.

But in the scheme of things, the Browns needed a talented receiver. They went out and got the best. He just sucked. What can you say? Nothing is guaranteed. It was a great attempt at something that should have worked out.
I have always hated the loud mouth receivers. However, so many teams will take it and suffer the consequences later on.
Hue Jackson is a loser.
