Does this change anything for the last couple games?
Is it time to shut down Baker so he gets a head start on surgery? Is there any reason to bring back Hunt, instead of giving Johnson some more reps to close out the year?
Or is playing for a winning season and a winning record in our division (including a sweep of the division champs) more important?
January 2, 2022 at 11:02 pm #21443IceKeymasterIMO this is pure player evaluation time. Teams have to use this time to start making decisions for next season, and players have to use this time to convince the NFL they deserve a spot. Play anyone who is able to play especially Baker.

Winning these last 2 games does nothing but hurt draft position. It has zero effect on next year. My only hope next year is first game is against NFC team so our 0-1 start won’t hurt as bad. It’ll be last year of Stefanski and his horrible attempt at OC. Hopefully new HC in 2023 won’t be allowed to call his own plays.

January 3, 2022 at 12:02 pm #21445IceKeymasterLike it or not, this franchise has a huge decision to make regarding Baker and the sooner we make it the better it is for us. IMO worst case scenario is that we let him go and he turns into a HOFer like Drew Brees. 2nd worst case scenario is we waste money signing him long term and he turns into hot garbage.

He’s playing hobbled, and it’s very likely a some of the supporting players are going to start phoning it in. Is there really anything new to be learned in one last game with the Steelers and then against the Bengals backups?

He’s signed next year. We have to see what comes available. We have one of the worst WR rooms in the NFL. Wilson isn’t waiving his no trade to come here and give up multiple first rounders isn’t an option that helps us.
