Was everyone as baffled as I was at the Njoku fumble call?
First, he’d be down by contact do not a fumble.
Second, they confirmed that it was a fumble (officials wording)
Third, they allowed a 20+ yard return after he rolled off Njoku (aka down by contact)
Fourth, they changed it to an interception 20 minutes later (per NFL rule book not allowed). Tie also goes to the offense so Njoku made the catch and was down.
The other head scratcher. Since when can you challenge a play under the guise of seeking offensive penalties? “Cincinnati is challenging that there were no offensive penalties on the play”?

December 9, 2019 at 11:34 am #17405IceKeymasterWay more concerning to me was when all the refs signaled a catch, and 20 seconds later the head ref announces “The call on the field is incomplete pass”. Based on WHAT?!? You can’t overrule the call on the field without a review! The reffing in our game was again very choppy, but bad calls helped us as much as they hurt us.

Forgot about that one. I’m not complaining on this as much as I’m baffled by it. Nothing compared to the Chiefs Patriots game. Patriots lost 2 TDs to officiating otherwise that game goes into OT (I say 2 TDs because the defensive one – same drive is when the offensive one got taken away and they settled for a Fg).

Another one, what about blowing the extra point dead on an untimed down to fix a clock issue.
The refs carried on their weekly tradition of trying to fuck the Browns.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

IIRC it was a PLAY CLOCK issue too. Like yeah even though the play clock was missing 10 seconds we still got the shot off in time, don’t blow the fucking whistle after the kick is in the air! Had that play actually affected the game I’d have lost my mind.
The Patriots/Chiefs game was absurd.
December 11, 2019 at 2:48 pm #17440ShooterModeratorI liked the one where the ref just flat out said “The previous play is under review to see if there was a penalty”
Any penalty.
Any penalty of any kind. Nothing specific. We’ll take anything.
When. The fuck. Was that. Allowed?

They did this even before you could actually review a play.
The call sucked.
The NFL did officially change it to an interception but the player was down on his back with the ball and touched. It wasn’t a fumble and wasn’t an interception. It wasn’t incomplete either. The NFL screwed up big time in my opinion. Of course, the officials aren’t even consistent during a game and now no one knows what a catch is, what a pass interference is or what a personal foul on the QB is. It is time for the NFL to hold all their officials and replay personnel accountable.
