Anyone who has read my posts lately knows that I am a HUGE Patrick Mahomes II fan, and today he officially declared for the 2017 NFL Draft. I know a lot of you have never heard of the Texas Tech product, but my guess is that you will by the end of the NFL Scouting Combine.
Imagine Johnny Manziel was 6’3″ tall, 230 lbs, had no off the field issues, a humble attitude, and Aaron Rodgers’s right arm. The guy standing before you would be Patrick Mahomes II. I’ll go on record as saying I believe Mahomes will be what scouts hoped RG3, Manziel and many other dual threat QBs would become. Yes, I know he plays in the Big 12. Yes I know he runs the Air Raid.
It is believed he will be drafted in the second or third round. I think that’s insanely low, and I suspect he might work his way into the first round before the draft process is over. Good luck Patrick! I hope to see you in Orange and Brown next season!

One thing I do know is that the guy that ‘draft experts’ think is the best QB in early January is almost never the QB that gets drafted first.

Manziel was just a lazy comparison because he was drafted by the Browns and most people here are familiar with him, for better or worse. I think a more accurate comparison is Russell Wilson. I’m working on a game film analysis for him. Reserve your judgement and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Mahomes II has NFL talent, but coming out of the Air Raid (like Manziel did) he’s going to need some polish. QB whisperers like Hue and Pep should have no issues helping him develop (he is actually starting his own pre-draft training tomorrow in San Diego).

If Manziel were 6-3 and gave even 1 fuck about football, I’d love him. But he wasn’t, he didn’t, and I don’t.
