ParticipantObviously not on the front office. When Horton goes, if Pep decided to leave next year is yet another 1st time year. More change for more failure.

ParticipantThis doesn’t bother me at all. If he wants out, who could blame him? I refuse to count this as a “new” year for the offense just because Pep leaves. There are a bunch of offensive coaches in place that’ll run the same system. Hue and Al Saunders (whatever his title is) will keep the same basic system in place.

ParticipantIf he goes and it’s true Horton is fired, then Hue loses his top 2 assistants after year 1. Next year would be another first year

ParticipantUnfortunate. I really feel like Pep could have been an asset when it comes to QB development. Given our record here and his history with Harbaugh, I really can’t blame him though.

ModeratorI don’t really this as too big o a loss. The offense is still going to run through Hue. It’s still going to be his system. So the only thing changing will be the guy calling plays. Everything else stays the same. No turnover as far as “system”, which is good.

ParticipantLike I said, from a player development standpoint, I think this is a loss. NOt for the QBs that are in the system and on the roster necessarily, but from those that may find themselves here through free agency and the draft. The one thing Cleveland has been unable to do since the return is develop a QB. Hamilton was known as a QB whisperer (as is Hue), and I think it would have been beneficial if we were to draft a player like Mahomes II who has the physical assets but is going to need help getting his mind around a pro style offense.

ParticipantTop 2 assistants gone. Another rebuild year. Guaranteed that Haslam forced the Horton firing and Pep said screw you you bat shit hick. I’m gone.
Say hello to Watson as our #1 pick as Haslam will force the QB on them.
In 2018 our new coach will have less credentials than Pettine

ParticipantMy initial guess is that Al Saunders will be promoted to offensive coordinator and the Browns will bring in a quarterbacks coach.
Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!

ParticipantWhat haven’t we tried since 1999?
Answer: continuity.
What were we promised at the beginning of this year?
Answer: continuity.
What did they do less then a year later?
Answer: Fire the DC and lose their assistant HC.
What’s missing in Cleveland now from 1999-2017?
Answer: continuity.
Why would I expect anything but utter failure and more changes when we failed yet again to show any stability?

ModeratorYou can’t fault the Browns for Hamilton leaving. He quit. But, it’s Hues offense, so really nothing is changing. It’ll be the same system.
The defense just got better.
I don’t see the problem.
Why would I expect anything but utter failure
Well, it would certainly be continuous if you don’t, and we know how much you love continuity.
That’s called irony.

ParticipantIf Horton doesn’t get fired Hamilton stays. He smelled what Haslam was doing and took a stable job elsewhere. Remember when Shannahan bolted? All of its due to the owner. It’s not just a coincidence.

ParticipantI wasn’t a big fan of Pep when they signed him. Im not heartbroken over him leaving. He made his rep off of coaching Andrew Luck at Stanford and then again in Indy. I credit that success more with Luck than Pep.

You can’t pretend to know why Pep is leaving. He’s got a history with Harbaugh, maybe that factored into it. Maybe he preferred a college job where he’ll always get better players than 90% of the teams he plays against.
It could be Haslam, but none of us can act like we know that for sure.

ParticipantWait a Minute. I don’t think this is official yet. There’s an article on PFT.com stating that Hue has a good feeling about Pep staying.

Ah, now we’re going to throwing wild, random accusations that have no proof of any kind and trying to pass them off as fact. Lol, you’ve got to be kidding me here.
And Shanahan left because he hated Ray Farmer texting him during games and telling him what to do. I don’t blame him.

Moderator2 guys jumping ship. That’s not a coincidence. That’s evidence.
So what you’re saying is, the possibility that Hamilton, who worked under/for Harbaugh at Stanford where they had great success together, in no way had any interest in rejoining Harbaugh at the college level. That’s not at all a possibility. He just quit and left because he hates Haslam.
That’s what you’re saying right? And you’re also saying you know this as a fact too, right?
Gotcha.
This is why talking to you sometimes is like pounding my head into the door.
