I gave it an A+, more for the picks we DIDN’T make than for the picks we did. We could have traded three 1st round picks to Tennessee to grab Marcus Mariota, but we didn’t. We could have used a 3rd rounder to move up a few picks to make sure we got Shelton at NT, but we didn’t. The Browns showed something they did not have last year; patience. Instead of trying to swim upstream they let the draft come to them and got excellent players at positions of real need.

I am also giving this an A+. For once I feel like we’re not panicking making picks and drafting versatile players who can fit right in.

Shelton is a big move on focusing on starting to stop the run which has destroyed us. The guy has so much potential and will compliment Taylor very nicely. We will be able to stop the run on 3rd and 4th down and will get our defense off the field.

I think Cameron Irving is also a strong pick. I was somewhat surprised he slipped down to us. OL wasn’t a focus in the early parts of the draft which was a surprise. It is quite possible we may have picked the best OL in the draft.

This will bring up some questions about Mack and what their position is with Mack. But I imagine the first year Irving will move right into the guard position and make up some of the lack of strength on our right side of the line….which we love running to so much.

So far I am really excited about our picks. Yes, they are not the Playmakers we are always dying to get, but these guys can both really make an impact right away.

It is a game of inches. And we just drafted 2 players who can push those extra inches.

    Hue Jackson is a loser.

I gave it a B. I feel the Erving pick was a knee jerk reaction to Mack MAYBE opting out. I’d have gone Dupree. Erving didn’t seem like a win now pick. That said. I’m not complaining about the player. This isn’t a Mingo or Warren situation. If you offered the vote as B+ that’s what I’d grade it.
