I gave it a “B”, but I think B+/A- is more accurate. Again like last year the analytics crew realized that none of the QB’s is worth the picks people would spend on them and were able to take advantage by trading down and getting another 1st next year. You could feel our desperation through all the trade rumors but I don’t mind that. We’re trying to trade for guys who have NFL experience and are much more of a known commodity. Finally in the 2nd round a QB fell to us. I know none of us is thrilled about Kizer but I’m not too upset because of where we drafted him.

What really threw me was the pick of Caleb Brantley. We don’t have video of his alleged assault like we do of Joe Mixon’s, the descriptions sound similar. Mixon got drafted 48th overall by the Bengals but was elite talent. Brantley is maybe a 2nd or 3rd round talent. If you take the emotion out of it, it’s a great grab in the 6th round. It’s like taking a chance on a guy with an injury history. Unfortunately I have difficulty taking the emotion out of a guy slugging a girl so hard he knocks her out and breaks a tooth. It bugs me that he’s on our team. Hopefully he is cleared of wrongdoing but I’m never gonna like him.

Unfairly, i didn’t see the entire draft….but so far from what I have seen I really like. I really liked the first round. I hate michigan…but peppers is a phenomenal athlete. He could be the next Ed Reed.

    Hue Jackson is a loser.

Incomplete till I know the out come of the Brantley situation as he looks like a starter next to Shelton or wasted pick. That’s a HUGE swing in value.

As for the next Ed Read, that is bad comparison. More like the next Troy Pomalalu. Peppers is an in the box safety not a deep center fielding one.

I’m not gonna give it a letter grade, I’m just going to give it a word: Optimistic

That in and of itself speaks volumes to this franchise, and how I’d say most of us feel when looking at, or back, other drafts.

Last year, the draft picks of Coleman (shortened as it may have been due to injury), Ogbah, Nassib, Shobert, Kessler and even Coleman contributed to this team. Positively. As a fanbase of a team that has watched pick after pick after pick just be a total waste and wash out of the league nearly instantly upon adorning the Browns jersey, man that shit was uplifting, desperately needed, and a breath of fresh air.

I’m looking forward to this draft class not only letting us have the same feeling, but also take it up another level.

The dream of opening the season seeing Garrett pressure Big Ben into a bad throw and creaming him while having said bad throw get turned into a pick 6 by Peppers is, not at all a stretch.

The biggest areas of need on this team were pass rush, safety, and obviously QB. All 3 needs were addressed within 4 picks. Garret is a stud, Peppers has just stupid ability, and Kizer, while agreed not a popular pick, has potential and meets a number of criteria. The best part about drafting him was it didn’t cost us a 1st, and we didn’t jump panic or trade up to take him. We once again deftly moved through the draft, and let it, come to us. Toss in another pair of interior D-lineman (one of which, yes clearly comes with questions and is a gamble that I was not a fan of, but nonetheless) to shore up run defense, and top it off with the a pick I feel has completely flown under the radar because of his position: The FBS record holder for field goals.

This has the chance to be a very, very impactful group of players, and honestly, I tip my cap to the work that Sashi and the front office, along with the coaching staff, has put in on this current Browns team. It’s been quite a while since the winds of change have been blowing in Berea, and the first time in a while that when they did, it feels legitimate.

The players picked weren’t just also the stars of the last 2 drafts, the acquiring of assets while doing so sets us apart from the entire league. 2 1sts and 3 2nds next year means that the Browns can in effect, do whatever the fuck they want and manipulate it as they see fit. That’s no easy task, and one that should be heavily applauded.

There’s risk. Florida woman-beater and the question marks surrounding Kizers game, but ya know what, that’s the draft. Every team does it every year. You’re gonna hit on half and miss on half, that’s just the way it works so I’m not gonna break out any pitchforks.

I like the direction of this team. I think we’re adding quality, and I think we’re adding depth. I think, most importantly, we’re actually for the first time since 99, actually “building”, a team. We’e never done that before. That approach for whatever reason was always ursurped or ignored for some other quick-fix bullshit plan that not only never worked, but clearly was never going to work int he first place.

I’m content. I’m not above criticizing them, and I’ll call out mistakes as I perceive them, but I like the direction of this team. I like the plan. I’m trusting what it is that’s taking place, and I like the fact that a plan is actually being given complete and total effort, time, and resources to be completed.

Is it gonna pay off? I have no fucking clue. But I do know that this shi is better than watching Mike Holmgrens fat ass sitting at a podium, talking about a “process” as he introduces Pat fucking Shurmer.

    Go Browns.

You know what the interesting thing about all those guys is? NONE of them was touted as the most ‘NFL ready’. They were all raw guys that need time to reach their potential, yet even in their first year we saw good things from all of them. Coleman didn’t even know the route tree! In year 3-4 those guys will be way better than they are now.

Ok, I’ll ask (knowing full well I’m going to regret this).

Why would you give the Gonzalez pick an F? It’s a 7th round pick on arguably the best kicker in the draft, and he could very well be an actual starter, versus drafting a guy that likely wouldn’t make the roster because the enormous amount of youth we have already. Why is that an F?

Second question: are you aware there are grades between A and F?? B, C and D were options you could’ve used as well. Just for future reference.

Because Parkey isn’t an issue. That’s why Gonzalez gets an F.

No one should be more pissed than @shooter about round 7. He loves Osweiler because Elway picked him. We passed on Chad Kelly twice and Elway picked him.

Lol, I would have passed on him and left his ass undrafted. That dude gets injured the moment he touches a football, let alone the off field stuff. My tune on that guy has definitely changed.

Somebody is gonna break that guy in two, if/when he sees the field.

Boy…there’s no such a thing as a “B-D” in there. I guess the color gray is a myth, too.

F——…lol. And you have a year with that sig.

Most successful kicker in FBS history. I’m okay with having another Phil Dawson for the next 15 years. It was a 7th round pick, not a 1st.

Jesus Christ, you have mental disorders. Multiple ones with varying degrees of impact on your person.

The only thing I ever said about John Elway was that he knows more about football than you do. That’s still a valid statement, and will continue to be a valid statement until John Elway is dead, in which case you will then surpass him due to his lack of mortality. (Although truthfully, even a dead Elway might edge you out).

I do not “love” Osweiler. All I’ve ever said about him was that keeping him, letting him compete for a job, and him possibly playing might not be such a bad thing. That’s it.

And finally, the only thing I know about Chad Kelly is that he’s Jim Kelly’s nephew. And I only know that because I read it on NFL.com yesterday. Outside of that I have no idea who he is, and have less of an idea what you’re rambling on incoherently about.

Caleb Brantley was a 6th not a 1st. For a potential Richard Seymour. But your not okay with that?

Chad Kelly is arguably the most talented QB in this draft. That said – he’s fucking bat shit crazy. Like certifiable psycho straightjacket needing axe wielding loony tune.

Parkey may not be an issue, but he’s nothing special either. Zane Gonzalez, on the other hand just might be.

We’re talking about a kicker that didn’t miss a kick under 50 (that’s right 50…5-0!!) yards last season, and he went 7-9 from over 50, with his longest being a 59 yarder. Parkey’s career long is 54 yards.

Giving that pick an F because WAAAHHH WAAAHHHH THEY DIDN’T PICK THE GUY THAT I THOUGHT THEY SHOULD PICK….that’s just unbelievable.

Well I see why you like him.

It depends. He may or may not have knocked a woman unconscious and separated her head from a number of her teeth. If he did, well then it’s a complete waste of a pick. If he didn’t, he’s quite the steal.

What I don’t like, is the gambling. We have too many holes to fill on this team still to be completely vacating draft picks. We need players, not people who we cut for allegedly Hulk Smashing 110-pound women.

    Understand?

Initial reaction . . . This was a solid draft by Sashi and company. If indeed DeShone Kizer ends up being a franchise QB for the Browns, then they will have been a slam dunk. I’m not going to grade this draft yet, but I’m definitely encouraged by the picks they were able to make.

I can hardly wait to see what Williams can do with the kids we got.

Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!
