MDP Sack AttackParticipantWell, it was a terrible failure the first time around, so how badly could it go this time…

DawgPoundDudeParticipantNot sure if anybody watched that 30 for 30 episode covering it (which covered how it all went down), but the XFL failed much like the Browns every year…every fucked up star aligned just perfectly, and they pulled the plug. Certainly not saying nobody was at fault, but hopefully it ends up as “lesson learned” from the previous attempt and they can get back to football.
I’d love to see the vision for this come true.

IceKeymasterI would welcome competition to the NFL. Even if the talent isn’t as good, the NFL desperately needs a farm system. How often do 1st overall picks become weak-bodied busts?

the dudeParticipantThe only problem with a farm system is that the longevity of players is already extremely low.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

DawgPoundDudeParticipantI’m with you, Ice. The XFL could look to be an almost developmental league. I mean, their only season saw over 200 players filter into the NFL…and 15 or so on Super Bowl winning teams within 5 years (again, info from that 30 for 30).
I’d say those are pretty good numbers.
I’ll admit to being a bit biased…I was big into WWF at the time (not remotely into it these days) and the whole concept sounded just as awesome as a Stone Cold Stunner. I mean, the first fucking play from scrimmage saw a D-lineman shoot offsides and clothesline the QB…only to have a 5 yard encroachment penalty.
Still, injuries to starters were a large contribution to their downfall. That said…I’d like to see a ‘rebel’ football league happen again (minus Jerry Lawler doing color…all bad). Assuming that they learn from past mistakes, I could see it working.

ShooterModeratorAh Christ, please no. For the love of God no. All this will mean is that at some point in time Brock Lesnar will e the QB of the Browns.

No.Yeah see, one of the big things they realized was bringing wrestling too close to it. I completely agree…looked more like a sideshow than a serious sport.
I’m willing to bet that 2.0 will be a much more refined product.
…And really, you didn’t like He Hate Me? I thought it was damn clever…”when I run by him, he hate me. When I block him, he hate me. When I score a touchdown, he hate me” while pointing out players on the other team. Beats the shit out of Teabagger (yeah, that was a nickname).
Edit: Yeah Soup, Rod Smart. Didn’t really do much, he wasn’t awful either.
