Both Kyle Shanahan (OC) and Dowell Loggains (QB Coach) are officially leaving the Browns. Shanahan was released from his contract after it went public that he was unhappy in Cleveland because of meddling from upstairs. He presided over an offense that ended up scoring 18.7 points per game, good enough for 27th in the league and managed 325 yards per game, 23rd best in the league. Shanahan is rumored to be interviewing for the Bill’s head coaching position and failing that he may team up with his good friend Dan Quinn, as he interviews for the NY Jet’s head coaching vacancy.
Loggains’ QB’s this year managed 217 yards per game, 20th in the league. Loggains is best known for the 2014 draft, where he received a text from Johnny Manziel saying they were going to ‘wreck the league’ together, and then later saying that owner Jimmy Haslam is the one who directed them to move up and grab Manziel which was later refuted by officials at every level of the team. Reportedly Loggains was fired because of the lack of progress of Manziel.
Per Alex Marvez, PettineĀ is already well into his search to replace them though no candidates have been named. I’m sure QB coaches are banging down the doors to take over the stewardship of Johnny Manziel.

He’d rather Hoyer stay off and the Browns lose so Johnny No Arm would be inserted into the line up. Loggains was a massive detriment to this team.
With Shannahan unhappy, I’m glad the team was smart enough to cut him loose. While we keep changing – one thing he didn’t do was change throughout the year. Meaning as the year progressed he became more and more pass happy. He also tried too pass way too often in key situations that dictated we should run. We went 1-3 in those games. AKA the difference between 10-6 and 7-9. Hopefully we finally get an OC that runs the damn ball and runs it often and runs it when the situation calls for it.
Freedom!!!
January 8, 2015 at 12:53 pm #468IceKeymasterShanny did run less after Mack went down, but we still finished the year 7th in rushing percentage, at 48.72%. The best team (the Seahawks) rushed 53.63% of the time. Here’s the top 10:
1 Seattle Seahawks 525 979 53.63% 2 Houston Texans 551 1,036 53.19% 3 Dallas Cowboys 508 984 51.63% 4 New York Jets 507 1,005 50.45% 5 Cincinnati Bengals 492 995 49.45% 6 San Francisco 49ers 470 957 49.11% 7 Cleveland Browns 477 979 48.72% 8 Carolina Panthers 473 1,018 46.46% 9 Kansas City Chiefs 420 913 46.00% 10 Green Bay Packers 435 971 44.80%
I was expecting to see the best teams have the highest percentages, but we really see a mix here. There are some good teams and some really bad teams.
