Flacco is definitely our best shot to win, not only in the regular season but in the playoffs if we get it.

I am glad Stefanksi realized that.

While I still do not like Stefanski’s play calling, I think it it crazy that people want him fired.

The Browns are 8-5 right now in spite of all the injuries that they have had.

The follpwing is a list of major injuries that they have had. Some are out for the year. Others have missed significant time:

    Watson – Starting QB
    Chubb – Starting RB
    Conklin – Starting RT
Jones – Backup RT (now out for the year)
    Wills – Starting LT
Grant – Starting PR/KR (injured in preseason)
Ward – Starting CB (he misses four games every year)

Then have had several players miss a game here or there due to injuries.

If anyone had told you about all these injuries before the season, there is not a sane person who would have ever said the Browns would currently be 8-5 and be in sole possession of the first wild card.

Like I said, I don’t like his play calling but he has to get some of this credit since he takes all the blame.

I agree 100 percent. Sometimes his playcalling drives me crazy, but being at 8-5 with all these injuries….gotta give the man his due. Hurst is done for the season as well (not a starter, but still).

Flacco’s really looked good so far. I think he’s only going to get better as well.

And props to Stef and Berry for getting us Hopkins.

10 and 5! Loving Flacco. They could ship off Watson for a couple of second rounders for all I care.

If not for Watson and his 4-1 record as a starter including the great game against Baltimore and we probably aren’t in the playoffs.

Watson was playing his best in both games he was injured. I guess some people are never going to give him the credit he deserves.

Before saying you wouldn’t care if the Browns traded Watson, take a look at what it would do to the salary cap and how many players (starters) that would have to be cut. It isn’t going to happen.

No, there’s no way we cut Watson. Even trading him would be a headache, even with moving around money like they do.

He’s had a couple great games, some good. Far from the Houston Watson we thought we were getting though. We haven’t really gotten 230 million dollars worth. Maybe next year. He gets a lot of credit for the TN game and the second Balt. game.

But to me, in a small sample size, Flacco’s just looked better.

The trading him away for all I care statement was not to be taken literally.

Man, I keep looking at your avatar and thinking “Damn, I’m so glad weed is legal here”.

Also yeah, I see no reason not to discuss football stuff here. It’s free real estate, we should use it. Might even make new threads and stuff.

I tried to start a new thread, but it says it’s awaiting moderation.

I was just posting on good ol’ Deshaun being in trouble again.

I support this team but…Watson was another bad call by Haslam. Unfortunate, because it’s likely going to end with a few folks getting fired.

I was reading yesterday that there was supposedly some clause in his contract that says CLE can recoup some money out of this mess if he’s convicted–but turns out there’s nothing like that in there. Which means that no matter what, we’re on the hook. They need Watson to play about twice as good as he did yesterday for the remainder of his contract to actually get their moneys worth from him. Fat chance.

    I miss Baker.

Yeah, I saw that Florio wrote that the last two years could be voided if he’s suspended again. I don’t know what to think of that.

But even if we got out of that, we’ve restructured so many times that the cap hit would be huge–even if it’s stretched over two years. But we do have like 60 million in cap space now (ironically due to restructuring Watson’s contract again.)

What a freaking mess. I miss Baker, too. I’m glad he’s found a home in Tampa.

Everyone here knows that “sinking ship” feeling whenever we start the season with hope — and by game 4 we’re already looking forward to the draft. This isn’t quite that scenario.

Stefanski is a great play caller…when he’s prepared against a team. There’s times I’ve seen him call a masterpiece, and then there’s the Texans wildcard game last year. He’s won more than he’s lost, so for this team that’s shooting well above par. I just feel like I barely know the guy.

Out strength and conditioning coaches need to be sent to Soviet Russia to train with Ivan Drago or something. Every damn year we’re subjected to soft-tissue injuries that plague the team all season. Last season was so unbelievable (on so many levels) that they really should have considered this in the off-season. This will likely cost us.

Andrew Berry is a salary cap genius, but he’s just average when it comes to drafting players, especially receivers. My opinion is probably colored here by the fact that we haven’t had a first-round pick for the last three seasons but…well, we really haven’t had many impact players outside of JOK for the last couple of years through the draft. Maybe once we actually have some picks and players again, my tune will change.

You’ll struggle to convince me that the Watson trade was worth it. Texans completely fleeced us there. And it stinks of Haslam’s involvement (remember Manziel). Not to mention how we botched everything with Baker and essentially got nothing for him. I know, it’s time to move forward but damn…I really thought we’d see that man retire here. Dude is a good player and a class act, and I’ll always wish him success (unless he’s playing against Cleveland).

    This team is a rollercoaster.

What have we gotten from Watson so far? 1, 1 1/2 good games?

    Worst trade ever.

Thoughts on Drew Allar or Jalen Milroe? I’m not big on Sanders or Cam Ward.
