…and I’d be ok with him sitting on the bench. Sure as shit wouldn’t break the bank on this guy…and let’s face it, every QB that’s ever come to Cleveland to revitalize their career has done nothing but bury themselves and set us back.
Unless Hue is absolutely certain that RG III is the guy that he can hitch his wagon to, I wouldn’t touch this one. It has nothing to do with the whole “locker room cancer” thing, and more to do with a player who hasn’t been the same since his rookie season.
March 19, 2016 at 5:45 pm #4515IceKeymasterI was just about to post something on this. RG3, Colin Kaepernick… these guys are looking for a certain type of QB. They want someone who is young, mobile, and has been demoted due to long-term suckiness. I want nothing to do with these guys at all. I don’t like their attitudes or their skillsets. Perhaps Hue is looking for a diamond in the rough, but I’d rather start 42-year-old Josh McCown than either of those guys.
What I personally read into this; Hue doesn’t want McCown to be the bridge between the present and the future QB he’s going to be drafting. He wants someone younger who has shown some skill at the NFL level but needs to be coached up hard. How does that mesh with bringing a rookie? I don’t know. What I do know is that by the time this team is good enough to compete for playoff spots McCown will be to old to be the starting QB.
March 19, 2016 at 5:54 pm #4516DawgPoundDudeParticipantYeah, that’s about what I thought too Ice. It’s looking like he wants a replacement for McCown, but the pickings are slim. But as for why Hue doesn’t want to roll with him…I mean, I get it, he’s old. But he’s far from a bad choice for a bridge QB. Maybe he’s trying to find a way to go 8-8 (lol), but feels he can’t with McCown at the helm?
Not even gonna theorize beyond that.

We’re a 4-12 team at best with McCown at QB. With RGIII, we might match Detroit for a winless season. RGIII is a read option, 1 progression tuck and run QB that reads a defense as well as I can read a book about Chinese philosophy, written in Chinese.
So we’ll probably sign him and name him the starter the next day.
March 20, 2016 at 5:54 pm #4519the dudeParticipantCome on dawgs, he is Holmgren boy. We should have drafted him!!
Hue Jackson is a loser.
March 21, 2016 at 12:05 pm #4520BrownsnMoparParticipantRGIII Vs. Kaep….the only difference is we don’t have to give up a draft pick for RGIII
March 21, 2016 at 2:24 pm #4522DawgPoundDudeParticipantDon’t be surprised if this happens. By all accounts, the visit went well. There’s a much better shot of this happening than the Kaepernick trade.
March 21, 2016 at 8:29 pm #4524BillWunkleParticipantHis record as a starting QB is 14-21; after a 10-6 rookie campaign he was 4-15 going forward. We’ve just gotten rid of one circus act after two seasons. Do we really want to sign another one – albeit for different reasons? He’s shown himself to be a drama queen during the 4-15 stint. I’m not so sure that I want a player that I referred to coming out of college as potentially “the next Kordell Stewart”. The last thing this team needs in a rebuilding stage is a drama queen as a signal caller and ball distributor. Thanks, but no thanks.
Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!
March 22, 2016 at 9:45 pm #4530the dudeParticipantHonestly, I am not against this was long as it is like a 2 year deal and not much money tied up. Our QB situation sucks. This guy at least had a good year before getting hurt and who knows what his passion is and if he can change it around. Out of all the QB’s we have, fucking kapernick, or any rookie, this guy in my opinion is a good choice. Whether he is good or not, I look at it as it cant get any worse.
Hue Jackson is a loser.
March 23, 2016 at 8:40 am #4533IceKeymasterBuy low sell high. RG3 just got a HUGE serving of humble pie, let’s see if he takes a bite.
March 24, 2016 at 12:40 pm #4552DawgPoundDudeParticipantWelp, it’s official. Just signed…no details yet other than that.
March 24, 2016 at 12:57 pm #4556DawgPoundDudeParticipantTwo year deal. No details on the cash involved. Still, I can live with that. Also, McCown supposedly on the block.
