He announced it the other day, he’ll be calling them instead of OC Alex Van Pelt.

Obviously, we know Soup will chime in and tell us this the worst idea ever (actually, he already said this when Stefanski was hired). We know it can be rough for a HC to call plays his first year (see Kitchens, Freddie). I’m not sold on it.

But, I also don’t think this is the worst thing ever. With Kitchens, we were bringing in Monken and his offense and then having Freddie call it. With Stefanski, we’re bringing in Stefanski’s offense (via Kubiak, via Shanahan) and having Stefanski call it. Also, I expect Stefanski to be more prepared and tuned in to what the offense is prepping during the week, and be more out together on game day.

Last year, it sounded like Monken did all the prep, made a sheet with the play calls on it, and gave it to Freddie. Hopefully, this works better than that.

Yay for 50 passes a game, terrible overall clock management and another 13 PPG season!

Hopefully next year they get the coach right

Well yeah, Social Distancing so I hope our offense is mostly passing 😂

Seriously, though, from everything I’ve read about Stefanski his gameplan will be balanced with a slight run emphasis. Now what happens when he’s down by 14, that’s a different story.

Our coaches say that every year. Every year we pass 40 times. Screw balance. 20 to Chubb and 20 to hunt with 15 passes is what should be done. Shorten the game.

    Prediction:

LBers won’t stay in their lanes and Lamar Jackson will run all over us since he can’t throw

First play for Browns will be a Mayfield throw that’s picked off. It’ll be 14-0 in the first.

Mayfield will be benched by week 3 because he will be constantly throwing

No, first play is an 70 yard play action touchdown pass that gets called back for holding, followed by a three and out.

Saints vs Browns. I was there. Frye to Edwards first play 75 yard TD called back for holding.

Later in the game Browns down and go in shotgun from the 3, I scream “what t hell are you running a draw for you morons!!!!” Prior to the snap. Bad exchange gee fumble. Entire section turned and looked at me like I was from the future because of the obvious playcall from the formation

Exactly the game I was thinking of!

Regardless if history and probability, it’s the one week if the year I’m optimistic. Chubb and Hunt combine for 400 yards offense in a blowout.

Oddly enough, I was at that game too. Reggie Bush’s pro debut. Two saints fans right in front of me started screaming Reggie, Reggie! when he came out to return a punt on his first NFL touch. He lost 11 yards trying to scramble, after which I stood up chanted REGGIE, REGGIE! They were not amused, lol.
