ParticipantThe Rams you can thank if you want because we would e taken Goff. I was high on him, and haven’t seen him play this year so I won’t comment on his current potential to be an NFL starter.
But for the Eagles, it remains to be seen whatwe make of their picks. We wouldn’t have taken Wentz according to the FO, but if Joey Bosa or Jalen Ramsey or such are better than Coleman and whoever we get the next 2 years, then it’s not such a great trade. So far, the trade has not shown to be a good one or bad one because the picks aren’t in.

soupParticipantMy point was more not missing on the QB like usual. Bosa is a non factor as he’s a 4-3 DE. we run a 3-4. Great player, wrong scheme.

I get what you’re saying, but my point is it really doesn’t matter if we didn’t miss out on a QB if we didn’t get quality players with our picks.
For example, I was thrilled we didn’t use 3 1st round picks or whatever it was to move up and get RG3, and then everybody said we “missed out” on RG3. And then it looked like the redskins did is a favor when RG3 started playing like crap. In reality, it doesn’t matter either way because RG3 is crap and the guys we picked like T-Rich, Mingo, Gilbert, and Erving are all crap. No winners in that argument.
Oh, and Bosa was just the first name that came to mind cuz he was picked at 3, I was just meaning a top-tier player in general.

ShooterModeratorBPA at #1 and a QB at 10 (or whatever slot it is).
If the QB is Deshone Kizer or Desean Watson, I’m probably not even going to watch a browns game next year. I’ll check box scores and catch lowlights on Sportscenter lol.

DawgstyleParticipantYou miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. While Goff and Wentz are both struggling, Dak Prescott isn’t and the Browns still don’t have an answer at QB. It’s not enough to not miss on QB prospects, we have to hit on one if we’re going to change the fortunes of this franchise.
In terms of who they draft (Trubisky/Kizer/Watson/etc.) I really don’t care. I’ll give them my full support (even if they do the unthinkable and take a QB at #1, though I won’t be happy about it). If they take Watson wherever, and he becomes the next Aaron Rodgers I’d be thrilled. I’m not going to root for him to fail because I didn’t think he’d amount to much.
The thing is, while it doesn’t look like there is a sure fire pick in the next 2 years, statistically speaking there is probably a QB that will play at an All Pro level at some point in his career (that’s not as hard as it sounds, Derek Anderson, Colin Kaepernick, Cam Newton, et al). Someone will draft him. I just hope it’s us.

soupParticipantWhile it’s true you miss on 100% of the shots you don’t take, it’s also true there are reaches not worth that shot. Kizer is a 7th round prospect. In no way does he deserve anywhere near a 1st round grade. We can’t Brandon Weeden another draft just because.
We need to pass on these guys early (except Trubitsky as I haven’t seen him. So maybe not) but Kizer and Watson are as sure to suck as Manuel, Manziel, Weeden and Russell. They aren’t shots worth taking.
Build up the team. Throw Kessler in and run the damn ball 35 times and bridge the gap to your diamond. Don’t reach on a bum.
Or grab Chad Kelly as he has way better tools than Kizer or Watson. If you take a 2nd round QB, start him week 1 and run the damn ball

ShooterModeratorI’m not going to root for him to fail because I didn’t think he’d amount to much.
I’d never do it either, but it would be immensely frustrating. Just like when they picked Weeden and Manziel. I never rooted for them to fail, but I knew for a fact that they would, because they sucked. When you pick a player that obviously sucks it’s very difficult to expect him to do anything other than just that. Suck. That Manziel is out of the league and Weeden is on his 3rd team and hanging on by a thread as a backup are not surprises in any way. Those picks both infuriated me.
I’d feel the same way about taking Watson or Kizer in the 1st round. No, I wouldn’t root against them, but when they fall flat and turn out to have no value whatsoever, become a completely wasted pick, and another gigantic swing and miss for this franchise, my only response will be “well yeah, what did they expect would happen?”.
If the Browns wanna take a swing on a kid from North Sheboygan State, fine, swing away, you never know what will happen. But drafting a player like Watson or Kizer, I very well know what will happen, and the answer is fuck no. If they take the Trubisky kid, hey, there’s your shot you’re talking about DS. I’m all for taking one. But you don’t take a shot on a known commodity. That’s not a shot.

the dudeParticipantSorry guys, I cannot stand re-reading the same thing I read 6 months ago.
Just reply and say this – we got the best draft picks and the most value out of the draft by trading pick or we CLEVELAND BROWNED it again.
Hue Jackson is a loser.
