Did you guys listen to his press conference?
Did any of you listen to what this jackwagon actually went out and said?
#1 Sashi brown has been promoted to head of football operations and is completely in charge of this team right now. Chew that down for a little bit, I’ll come back to it because it ges worse.
#2 They will hire the head coach BEFORE they hire a GM. They will be using a consulting firm named…..drumroll….Corn Fairy, to assist Sashi in finding said new head coach.
#3After finding the head coach, THEN, they will go out and hire a general manager. Again, with the assistance of Corn Fairy.
The GM will be responsible for all talent acquisition, and will be in charge of the entire scouting department. However, and this is the best part, Sashi, will have final say on the 53 man roster.
#4 and I honestly can’t believe I’m still typing here………Sashi will have the final call on the draft.
This is the plan Jimmy Haslam just laid out as the way that we are going to turn this team around.
Go ahead and read all of that again. Feel free to discuss the dinosaur-killing sized meteor screaming at 55,000mph directly towards Berea.
No one, and I mean absolutely NO ONE, of even the tiniest bit of value, will want to come anywhere NEAR this team.

Many corporations succeed on this level. But their success is managed by their product. In our case, our product we really do not have to invest in. In fact, anyone who invests right now in this product is not receiving rewards.
I have no problem with running your business like a white collar corporation. but you better understand, its not for everyone. Why anyone would want to come to an organization where if they cannot get it done in the first year, they are gone amazes me.
—– My favorite part of the press conference —- they said they studied how other teams are run – patriots – packers – seattle and are trying to learn from them. the way they are running this organization is the complete opposite of all these teams. all of these teams have invested in talent both in management and with the team. They have also stuck with their guys in down years

I’m talking back in the Charlie Frye era. If Dune had banned him back then (and many people asked him to), think of all the witty banter we’d be missing out on now. We all lamented when those great posters left Dawgbones; DT, Hanford, etc. Guess what, it was the ‘new posters’ that made them want to leave. And those ‘new posters’ were US. And Dawgsoldier didn’t kill that forum, Jim did. He completely quit Dawgbones about 5 years ago. I’d been doing my best to keep it together for him hoping he would come back but he had no desire to return. I spent way too much of my own time fixing that site and trying to keep it on life support and that’s why I’m here. I’ve been busting my ass for years to give our little community a home and honestly when you threaten to leave because you don’t like one guy it’s like a slap in my face. I’m not asking for anything from you guys. I don’t want you to chip in for server fees like we were forced to at DB. It is a new forum and there are some new faces. We’re not even a year old and this place is already creating some solid traffic for only recruiting people from a dying site. This site is a winning season away from a growing community. You are recruiting some solid writers like Bill and others and keeping the disputes alive with Soup, Shooter, Mav, and many others.
I can say that DawgSoldier did create and spread some interesting articles and I did like his scouting for drafting candidates. As a person, I cannot say the same. I think he has a lot of problems. Without meeting him, I am not sure what this is a result of or what his environment has turned him into.
I am probably in the minority when I say if I was in your position, I would let him stay but on very thin ice – permanently. Not hateful messages – no baiting on religion, personal beliefs, and definitely sexism or racism will not be tolerated. I think this should be a warning to all members period. Keep the talk about football, a few jabs about football I think are good, but be respectful.
Example – Soup is a dumbass because he already wants to fire our next head coach. – This is both predictable and funny.

BEREA (92.3 The Fan) – Analytics and football: Can they coexist?A large part of that question — one which has been asked repeatedly since the Cleveland Browns put two analytical minds, Sashi Brown and Paul DePodesta, in decision-making roles in the team’s front office — comes from a misunderstanding of what analytics actually are.
It has little to do with one-dimensional numbers crunchers with calculators in hand. It extends far beyond just staring at spread sheets.
But any philosophy — tried-and-true or outside the box — is only as successful as the application by the people who buy into it. And by that measure, the Browns may have found the right man to blend many ideas into one direction.
The Browns introduced Hue Jackson, a 15-year veteran of the NFL with 29 years of coaching experience, as their newest head coach on Wednesday, becoming the 16th head coach in the team’s history.
When you hear “29-year football vet,” you typically do not envision someone open to new ideas and philosophies. But to believe that may be selling Jackson short.
How does the football guy view working for an organization who appears to be embracing a non-traditional direction in the front office?
He could not have answered that question any better.
“I think that is the beautiful part,” Jackson said at Wednesday’s press conference. “I think there are all kinds of ways to make things happen. There is more than one way to do things.”
Bingo.
“My conversations with Sashi and with Paul, we are on point,” Jackson said. “We understand exactly what it is going to take to put this roster together to give us the best opportunity to be successful… Analytics is just a part of it. It is not the whole part of it; it is a piece of it. If we can find another way of doing things good to give us an opportunity to have success, we all would do that. There is not a person in this room that wouldn’t do that.”
And then came, maybe, his most important response on the topic:
“I like being cutting edge,” Jackson added. “I try to be innovative and cutting edge on offense. We want to be innovative and cutting edge on everything that we do in this building because eventually, everyone is going to be doing what we are doing. That is the fun part of this.”
Regardless of what outsiders believe about the application of analytics and advanced metrics in football, Jackson’s willingness to embrace some non-traditional football thoughts is at the very base of giving the Browns’ new direction a shot.
Otherwise, all of the time put into discovering new methods is a complete waste of resources — and that is a mistake owner Jimmy Haslam cannot afford to make again.
