TMZ Catches Manziel slamming champagne
TMZ caught Manziel drinking and partying out in Austin this weekend. No we didn’t accidentally post an old story, it actually happened again but thankfully no swan this time. TMZ
This after he promised not to do anything that would “be a distraction to this team or be an embarrassment to the organization” during the bye week. Memo to Manziel: PRIVATE PARTIES. CONFISCATE CELL PHONES AT THE DOOR. Is that so hard to understand?November 23, 2015 at 8:12 pm #2847DawgPoundDudeParticipantFrom what I’m hearing, TMZ got AHOLD of a video of a guy that took the video, to which Johnny claims it “could be an old video” and that he “hasn’t watched it”.
And my personal take…big deal either way.
November 24, 2015 at 12:18 pm #2852soupParticipantHere’s all that matters. He’s started 3 division games. He’s 0-3 by the tune of 91-19. He’s averaged 6.3 points per game in those 3 games. That’s what matters.
Freedom!!!
November 24, 2015 at 12:26 pm #2854MDP Sack AttackParticipantHe’s now our starting QB. I don’t give a shit what he does off the field or what dirt the media can dig up, because we’re past the point where that’s all we have to go on.
From last week on he’ll be evaluated exclusively upon what he does ON the field. We don’t have to speculate. So far, it’s not looking good.
November 24, 2015 at 1:03 pm #2855BillWunkleParticipantAnd some people STILL wonder why I was against drafting this trick bag punk from the get-go. Any of you who expected Johnny to do anything different during his bye week than party it up must really be some special kind of stupid. The punk has no respect for authority, no concept concerning what it means to be a true professional – much less the face of an NFL franchise. It’s been time to cut bait with Johnny for quite some time now; and until they do, he’ll do nothing but continue to drag this team and this organization further downward into the abyss.
Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!
November 24, 2015 at 3:48 pm #2857IceKeymasterAnd just that quickly, Josh McCown has regained his starting role.
Apparently Pettine takes this a lot more seriously than most of us. My guess is that there was an ultimatum given after he was caught drinking with the girlfriend.
To Manziel:
November 24, 2015 at 3:54 pm #2861MDP Sack AttackParticipantYep. And Davis is the backup, with Manziel as the #3 option. Sounds like that’s it for Johnny Football in Cleveland.
November 24, 2015 at 4:03 pm #2862DawgPoundDudeParticipantYup. Zero doubt he’s gone. Looks like @Dawgstyle is gonna get his wish (unless Davis comes in all Tom Brady-like and whatnot).
Buh bye Johnny.
November 24, 2015 at 4:05 pm #2864IceKeymasterI also have to ask…. Why champagne?!? I’ve seen guys do stupid stuff on tequila, whiskey, even beer… but never champagne. Clearly champagne is Manziel’s kryptonite.
November 24, 2015 at 5:03 pm #2865the dudeParticipantGoodbye JFF – a never was been.
Hue Jackson is a loser.
November 24, 2015 at 6:00 pm #2867MDP Sack AttackParticipantHonestly, he’s just trying to make the organization look like a goofy mess. He probably heard the “play like a Brown” slogan, looked at Haslam and Farmer, and thought “hey, me too!”.
@ice Was it champagne? Bottle looked the right shape, but my bartender eyes have been unable to figure out if it was that or one of those flavored liquers that frat dudes pound.

Please, I’d like someone to tell me what he did?
November 24, 2015 at 7:06 pm #2871IceKeymasterTo me this is like a 16 year old kid who has failed his driving test twice then finally passes it and gets his license. He gets in the family car, mom standing on the porch worrying and dad giving him his final safety instructions before the kid is to take off and enjoy his new freedom and responsibility. He waves to dad, pops the clutch, and drives right through the garage wall into a bedroom because the car was in drive instead of reverse.
Why is he getting in trouble? Here’s what we know: Manziel treated the team, the game, and his career as a joke last season. During the season he ignored coaching and team leaders who offered to help and told him he needs to get his butt into gear. ‘Please Pettine, I’m gonna turn it around. I just need one more chance.’ He went to rehab to help him get over his likely alcoholism and swore things would be different. ‘Look, I’m better now. Please Pettine, just give me one more chance.’ Things were great for a while, then he evicted his sponsor and admitted he was out drinking before getting pulled over for physically fighting with his girlfriend. ‘Please Pettine, just give me one more chance.’ Before the bye week, Johnny swears he’ll take it easy and not cause problems. Instead, he goes out partying and drinking for 2 days and ends up all over the news. His handlers claim it is an old video and Johnny forwards that lie. ‘It’s an old video. Please Pettine, just give me one more chance.’ Pettine knows that the video and also pictures were taken that weekend, doesn’t enjoy being lied to at all and confronts Manziel about the lie. Or maybe he doesn’t because he already knows what Manziel will say. He’s sorry, he just needs another chance. This time he’s out of chances.
November 24, 2015 at 7:50 pm #2872MDP Sack AttackParticipantI’ll give this years duo a pass for now, but with Johnny all but officially out, we flushed 5 first round picks down the toilet in the span of three years. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for Haslam’s ability to select leadership for this organization
November 24, 2015 at 9:31 pm #2874AnonymousInactiveUnfortunately, McCown’s play has been good enough to win games when he’s been healthy. My concern is that McCown, desperate to prove he is a legitimate NFL QB, will win enough games to take the Browns out of the #1 overall spot and either cost us our shot at Goff -or- ensure we have to mortgage our future to obtain him. This season is lost, the last thing I want is a journeyman QB at the position who is not a long term option for us and feels he has something to prove.
November 24, 2015 at 11:05 pm #2875MDP Sack AttackParticipantMcCown has been good enough to make his stat line look decent and keep us in a few games, but a quick look at our record combined with some review of his play in the 4th quarter of games means he’s far from playing good enough to win a significant amount of games. I’d be surprised if we win more than one (our only shot is vs the 49ers) from here out.
November 24, 2015 at 11:35 pm #2876mike barnesParticipantI never was for Johnny but hoped for the best, all along I wanted either Bridgewater or Carr both of whom have shown both talent but even more importantly the willingness to work hard to be the face of their franchieses

Please, I’d like someone to tell me what he did?He admitted to having a problem and went to company sponsored rehab. Many professional companies support this and encourage it in today’s society. Unfortunately for him, it is now a zero tolerance policy. He is lucky to still employed and making any money. Companies general pay you a severance and send you on your way. NFL is a little different of a beast.
So saying he is innocent is wrong. It is not harmless fun as he made a promise to his company which he failed.
My opinion – he should have been terminated a while back based on public perception. The Browns are trying to make this a family fun game and grow their fan base. This is not an attractive piece to their base and it would still even be a challenge if the guy was good.

And beyond the first round hasn’t been very impressive either. I am only counting a couple who have really made the field. Someone posted a list on this on the OBR and it was really fucking depressing.

November 26, 2015 at 1:53 pm #2887IceKeymasterIt wouldn’t surprise me at all if Manziel is inactive this weekend. Not just to punish him but because we’ve only been activating 2 QB’s frequently.

i doubt it…..the season is trash. mccown is broken. the last thing they want to do is have to put a wr out there to play qb.
