September 27, 2018 at 8:18 am #13724ShooterModeratorWell we have a guy at LT that most think will wind up working out just fine.
RT I could agree with though.
I think we could still use help at WR and Safety.
September 27, 2018 at 8:28 am #13725IceKeymasterI think we could use an upgrade at center. Not getting any push at all in the run game up the gut. Tretter hasn’t impressed me yet.
I’m willing to give Harrison more time. He hasn’t played football since 2016 and spent a lot of the offseason injured. He’s improved dramatically since game 1.Which safety position do you think we need help at Shooter? I like our options at safety.
I think our biggest need is on special teams. We need a special teamer who just wrecks shit like Bademosi used to do, and we also need a good kicker.
September 27, 2018 at 9:05 am #13726soupParticipantSpecial teams for sure. I think we will be fine at LT and RT. Especially with Bakers quick release time. I also think the line push will improve now that the D is going to have to worry about the midrange and deep throws with Mayfield. I think we need depth at safety. Peppers has played well at SS and Randall has been great. Outside of that we get into trouble

I’m slowly losing confidence in Peppers an an impact player. He’s okay, but again I’m talking “impact player”. I don’t hear his name called often, and I don’t see anything from him that makes me go “ooooh, that was a good play”. He’s just kind of there.
September 27, 2018 at 11:48 am #13728soupParticipantPeppers had played well this year. It’s his first year in the position. He’s made solid tackles and hasn’t been the liability he was as a Fs in coverage.

September 27, 2018 at 12:23 pm #13729ShooterModeratorI’m not saying he hasn’t played well. I agree, he has. I’m just saying that the hype doesn’t match the production. Coming out I constantly heard comparisons to Tyron Mathieu and even Troy Polamalu. Yes, he’s playing well and doing a solid job, but Mathieu and Polamalu were/are impact players. So far, Peppers is not.

That’s because he’s a 4th round talent picked in round 1. Take the round out of it. While he’s not impact, he’s not as liability either.
I viewed this more as a liability question. With all pieces in place I’d agree

September 27, 2018 at 1:26 pm #13731MDP Sack AttackParticipantRight Tackle, definitely. I’m willing to give Harrison a good shot at the Left side, remember he’s an undrafted rookie taking over for a future Hall of Famer who is in the conversation for best of all time. There’s going to be some drop off.
I would say we need line depth. Badly. There’s nobody beyone our starters whom I’d like to see in a game.
Kicker, obviously. Actually, every position on special teams.
September 27, 2018 at 3:31 pm #13732DawgPoundDudeParticipantRT and safety depth. I’d throw in some defensive line rotation depth a really close third.
I honestly believe we have a pretty good team at all levels (assuming Baker keeps kicking ass), just need to cover our asses in case of injury.

I agree, and think that at this point it really is going to be about building that depth, and adding pieces here and there. I think our core/foundation is in place, it’s just about building bigger and better now.
September 27, 2018 at 10:43 pm #13734DawgSoldierParticipantI Just want someone at LT that can pas and run block effectively rather than some one that is big and can get in the way athletically.
At RT Hubbard been getting abused. and IMO he looks like a guard trying to play RT.
At Center I agree with Ice but it is my understanding they are grooming Corbett for that spot.
The only thing I would pass on a LT for the Browns first pick. is big fast WR thats a play maker.

September 28, 2018 at 8:03 am #13735IceKeymasterIn pass protection the edge rushers have been the ones getting to our QB which would put a target at both LT and RT, but that’s deceptive IMO. It’s well known that Tyrod held the ball WAY too long and instead of stepping up in the pocket he steps back. Put those two together and you’ve got a protection nightmare. The difference in pass pro when Baker stepped in was night and day. Suddenly the LT and RT were able to do their jobs well.
I’d wait to see what happens going forward with a different QB before passing judgement on the tackles.
September 28, 2018 at 9:55 am #13736Dawg E. DawgParticipantIMO, what Dorsey has done well from the moment he arrived is make sure we have no glaring holes. That’s been one of my biggest complaints about past GMs. When you go into a draft with no viable options at QB, you know what happens? You get leap frogged and Patrick Mahomes gets snagged out from under your nose. Or at RB, you get conned into trading up for Trent Richardson from a team that had no interest in drafting him, but was “shopping the pick”.
There are some areas where in would be nice to improve (CB behind Ward is nothing special), but we are, at least on paper, in a good position to truly take BPA next year.

And then some. I think that he hasn’t just filled holes, he’s created real competition at just about every position. It doesn’t matter if you were a pro-bowler last year, Dorsey brought in a guy to push you. Best examples are LB and punter.

I disagree, I think “Money” Mitchell has done really well. 1 INT, 2 forced fumbles…. 3 turnovers caused in just 3 games? I’ll take that any day!

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Of course you couldn’t. I’m smarter than you.

As for QB not holding the ball ass long. This week he can if he likes. The Raiders pass rush SUCKS as they are last in the league I believe.

September 29, 2018 at 8:36 am #13742mike barnesParticipantA real true tall fast WR1, then another edge rusher to rotate with Myles and Ogbah.

As to the rotational pass rusher. from A-z Avery Smith and Zettel are doing that and IMO theres some serius potential there from Avery and Zettel.
