If you think about it, the ineptitude this organization displays is mind numbing. Remember the bet @shooter and I had over Garrett and Watson? We both wanted Garrett, but I was convinced we’d take Watson in the draft.
Draft day, @ahooter wins and we select Garrett. Pick 11 comes along with Watson still on the board and rather than doing what would be one of the greatest first rounds in draft history, we trade the rights to Houston so they get Watson.
We could’ve had Garrett and Watson in the same draft.
Let that sink in

I think Cody Kessler was our only “viable” QB, and it was obvious we weren’t going with him long term. I was screaming for them to sign somebody, ANYBODY else before the draft so it wouldn’t be so obvious, but they didn’t. And they went into the draft with a big flag at 11 that said “QB DRAFTED HERE, JUMP IF YOU NEED ONE.” Because of this, it’s one of the few times I was calling for them to trade up and draft Mahomes, cuz I figured he wouldn’t get to us.
But now, we stayed put, and let the chiefs get their guy. I was LIVID when they traded up. It was so plainly obvious. Then, the bar I was at just assumed it was a forgone conclusion we’d draft Watson. I mean, it wasn’t even a question. The trade down? Unbelievable.
I entered that draft with literally 2 guys that I didn’t want: Jabrill Peppers and Deshone Kizer. And we got both.

I don’t hate that, but I’d counter with if we hate taken Watson, we could have traded the 1st pick (if we even had it) to a QB needy team that wanted Baker (or Darnold) and gotten a future 1st and still drafted Ward.
