Le’Veon Bell (holdout) did not show up for Monday’s practice.
There were rumors last week Bell would report on Labor Day, but it does not look like that is going to happen. It remains unlikely Bell will hold out into the regular season, which would mean giving up game checks, but his Week 1 role will be a major question if he is not back in the fold by Wednesday. Bell owners should have James Conner on speed-dial.

This game is a must win. We’ve started 1-0 exactly 1 time since 1999. Enough with the losing. Division game, must win to start this season off right. They gave us a difficult game to try and keep the losing streak alive. Have to play with a chip on our shoulder and win decisively to build confidence on THIS YEARS playoff run.

because of the dis function of missing and or injured starting pieces, the Browns need to come out HIGHLY aggressive to try to take advantage of that IMO.

Was beat to the punch on starting a thread about this game.

Maybe I’m insane, maybe I’m delusional, and maybe I’m just out of touch with reality by having a higher level of optimism than what this team actually warrants, but I genuinely think that we can not only win this game, but win it convincingly.

Le’veon Bell and the Steelers are a married couple that are getting divorced but are forced to live with each other for 7 months before the separation can actually take place. That never, ever ends well at all, and it’s not going to here. I don’t care how good he is, he missed all offseason workouts, all OTA’s, all minicamp, all of training camp, the entire preseason, and now he’s not reporting for a regular work week and day 1 of practice for week 1. If this dude thinks he’s just going to stroll in here on a Wednesday or Thursday, throw on pads and dominate on Sunday he’s high as fuck. He’ll be ineffective and winded by halftime because the reality is he’s nowhere near game shape. Not to mention Todd Haley is gone and the Steelers have made a lot of changes on offense and this clown doesn’t know what any of them are. That’s great for us, because then all we need to do is tee of on that garbage O-line the Steelers have and punish Big Bens exponentially aging ass. Antonio Brown is a beast and a threat and nearly unstoppable, but if Ben’s on his ass all night it’s not really going to matter much because he won’t be getting the ball.

Their defense sucks. We don’t need to be spectacular or dominant or even great, all we need to do is run the ball, control the clock, not turn the ball over, and play smart, steady football and it should be plenty to take advantage of their myriad weaknesses. That’s not that tall of a task for this team, and we have the talent to do that easily.

I’m not calling for a blowout or anything, but I am going to say the Browns shock the shit out of the entire league and win this game 24-10.

I haven’t been very optimistic about the Browns the last few years, but I’m board with you all this year.

The Steelers always start out slow, and the lost of Haley shouldn’t be understated. Look st Roethlisberger’s career before and after Haley. Before Todd, he was a good passer that had the fortune of playing with an all time great defense. He was good in the clutch, but not an elite thrower. It wasn’t until Haley came along that their offense becaume a top 5 juggernaut. They’re bound to take at least a small step back without him.

The team has quietly been losing talent that the big 3 B’s covered up for, but sooner or later it catches up to you. Being in Cleveland, I really think we’ve got a shot at the upset.

This game is not a gimme for the Steelers at all. I hope they go into it thinking that way. We were a play away from beating them TWICE last year and we’ve upgraded every single position except for LT.

Also Miles Garrett. I fully expect Garrett to have one of Roethlisberger’s teeth embedded in his helmet by the end of the game.

As you know, I work for an organization that broadcasts the Steelers. I gave my prediction of 10-6 and playoffs for the Browns to them today (in the past I’d always top out at 4-12 to them). They called me insane, but did it with anger. It’s the first time they’ve done that to me. Why is this important? Because they know we are back and went into defensive anger mode.

I’m still trying to figure out why he launched an attack on Soup out of the blue lol. I mean I’m not against that policy, there’s never really a bad time to do it but, it just seemed like an odd time is all.

As far as what Soup said, dude I hear you. Unfortunately a bunch of people at the station I work at are Steelers fans (It’s a thing down here, I guess) and we’ve been going at it. What started off as mocking laughter when I first brought up the Browns winning this game has since changed to a very somber “fuck he might be right”. I told them everything I wrote above, and then mentioned how close the games were last year, and everyone stopped laughing real quick.

Beating the Steelers on Sunday is a big, big deal if it does indeed happen. It’s an enormous statement win, and it effectively puts the rest of the AFC North on notice.

And I think everyone knows that. For years glancing at the Browns roster was enough to induce laughter and then watching that roster go out and perform confirmed it. The coaching carousels and constant front office upheaval……those days are gone. All that’s over with. From Jarvis Landry giving the receivers room an exorcism to coaches like Haley and Williams getting the most out of the talent they have (which, for a change is actually pretty impressive) it’s not going to take much for the rest of this division to blurt out a collective “uh-oh”.

The Bengals suck. They’re one more Marvin Lewis 9-7 season away from tearing the entire thing down and starting completely over which takes them out of the running for at least 3 years.

The Ravens haven’t done shit since they won the Superbowl. Unless you want to count a 10-6 and a one-and-done season in 2014 as successful. Outside of that it’s been brutal, boring mediocrity. Who plays for Baltimore anyway? Joe Flacco was at-best a slightly above average QB and just happened to play out of his mind 1 year and let a Ray Lewis led defense carry the rest of the load to a Championship. That aside, he’s an plodding, average game manager. They have no receivers. They have no running backs. They have no defense. I can’t see how Baltimore has any chance of winning more than 5 games.

    Pitt I’ve already described.

Then there’s us. Young. talented. Flush with excitement and rejuvenated with Front Office, revamped coaching staff, for the first time in eons a talented and capable QB room, and what I expect to be a very nasty and imposing defense.

The over/under in Vegas for the Browns this season in the spring was 5. Not only would I take that over all day, but if you put it at 5 for THE DIVISION, I might still take it.

Everybody better get ready, case this shits happening.

I put him on ignore due to his incessant stupidity. Much like Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, he doesn’t like to be ignored. Thus the attacks.

News is coming out right now. Bell’s agent is being interviewed – it’s going to be a long term holdout. He still hasn’t shown his face yet.

Yes we all know that Soup calls Keisel ‘Sire’.

Prepare for Bell, if he doesn’t show then even better for us. He loses something like $800k per week he holds out. That’s serious cheddar.

If the Steelers lose their opener to the Browns, that would put AMAZING pressure on them to do something with Bell. Break the bank or trade him. Fans will be ready to burn the house down.

Just another reason that winning this game would be amazing.

Shit is blowing up here. Lineman reaming Bell a new one about how much he gets paid and his success is due to them. It’s time to strike. We should win this weekend and win big. They are on the cusp of falling apart. Ben is pissed about Landry Jones cut because he was a very good set of eyes. They now have no QB coach either. Things are starting to fray

Hard Knocks, Mayfield, Gordon, Dorsey…we have plenty in our arsenal to get excited about.

This team is young, talented, and starving to win, yet every media outlet predicts no more than 6 wins. Of course, everything is based on last season.

Punch these Stoolers right in their fucking mouth, then kick them in the face when they try to stand up.

It’s time for the greatest turnaround in the history of football. And it begins by disrespecting the shit out of the team that has done it to us year in and out since…forever. Beat their ass, set the tone, and fucking Go Browns!

Match up wise this how I see it:

Tyrod isn’t much of a risk taker in my estimation so I expect the backs and tight ends to have more receptions than the WR’s. Conincidently I think those match ups are more favorable as well IMO.

Overall I think Tyrod style of play is more WCO death by a thousand cuts, than say an AIr Coryell bombs away approach.

While Mayfield’s is just the opposite IMO. Not that I want him to start, I am just pointing out the difference.

As for what Wlliams will do coverage wise. I think that will be dictated by how effective the front 4 is IMO. I Could see starting off with Zone then going to man if they are getting pressure to give them a touch more time to pig pen on the ground or least rough him up.

It will be real interesting what the run game looks like as well.

Bell didn’t do much against us last year but Antonio Brown tore us apart with 180 plus yards receiving. Don’t see that happening
this year with the crappy weather that we will be playing in on Sunday.
A lot of problems the browns had last year are resolved. Having an experienced QB will help. Having an OC will also help to alleviate those delay of game penalties.
I also believe that some of those horrible decisions Hue made last year won’t happen this year because he won’t be as desperate to take stupid chances and rely more on the talent we have.

I also want to say playoffs. But also believe we need to just worry about the current game and not lol ahead.
I’m lookong forward to the Browns first win since the day of my 50th birthday (Dec 24th back in 2016 against the Chargers of San Diego.
