We better start 1-0. This is the lone MUST WIN game of the season.

    1. We have Philly’s 1st round pick in 2017. A win week 1 worsens their pick.

    2. Wentz has thrown 17 passes. He’s played 1 game in the NFL after a career in college that was limited due to skill and injuries. In college he played people who now wash cars for a living.

    3. This should pay huge for us in 2017 as his greenness should be exposed all year. Philly has a legit shot at giving us the #1 overall pick next year.

Risky move with an injury prone QB like Wentz. A broken wrist in his Senior season and broken ribs already in the preseason, I’m hoping Nassib and Ogbah don’t end his career before it’s even begun. Still, it will be interesting to see what he can do given the Bradford trade. If he can’t succeed against our pillow soft defense, I suspect he will have a rather long (and by long I mean short, injury prone) season. Game 1 and the Browns already have the ability to strengthen their draft stock with a win (can’t say that often). Time will tell if we made the right move passing on this guy, but so far, it looks like we came out WAY ahead.

    Let’s go Browns!

Not THAT risky considering our defensive line. I’m glad he’s playing against us. It’ll be nice to see how he does considering everyone and expected him to be our QB.

This now officially becomes the only game on our schedule this year where we “should” win.

And as mentioned, Wentz starting this year is great news for Browns fans. I don’t know if it’s going to mean the #1 pick, but with a rookie QB and only Chase Daniel behind him, I expect that the Eagles will pretty much suck this year, and bad. I’m guessing that that pick will wind up being at least top 5. Combined with our own shit record, the Browns have a very solid chance of drafting 2 of the top 5 players in the draft next year.

Hey Soup, Wentz just shredded the Steelers for 300+ yards, 2 more TD’s, and a 125.8 rating.

    He’s 3-0. He’s thrown 5 TD’s and still hasn’t thrown a pick. His rating on the year is 103.7.

Can you tell me again how much he sucks? I’m not seeing what you’re seeing, help me out here.

Game 1 for Kessler was the same type of thing as game 1 for Wentz. 21-33 244 yards. A 3rd round pick. Short throw after short throw after short throw. Calling him 3-0 is hilarious considering Philly’s D is allowing 9 points per game. That includes a punt return TD. Now let that sink in. 9 points per game their D is allowing. That’s better than the 85 Bears so far. Peterson is coaching fantastic. Giving Wentz half field 5 yard throws. He’s doing a beautiful job developing him and Wentz is handling it fantastic. Now go back and watch Wentz game 1 and Kessler game 1.

And I know I’ll get destroyed for saying the above but here’s the bottom line.

    Game 1:

Kessler 21 for 33 7.4 YPA playing on a team with 17 rookies as a 3rd round pick.

Wentz 22 for 37 7.5 YPA. #2 overall pick in the draft playing against a team with 17 rookies.

Yet no one is talking about Kessler because the D gave up 30 points and our kicker missedan 3 FG.

Or Kessler did well (which he did) but Wentz played even better. Look, I was on the Goff bandwagon. I still believe he’s going to be a good-great NFL QB by the time all is said and done. But give Wentz his due. The expectation was that he’d sit on the bench for at least a year. The kid is playing exceptionally well and his long ball and ability to recognize coverage has kept teams from stacking the box against them. Granted, it’s still early in his career and he has a lot to prove yet, but so far, Wentz is looking like a Pro Bowl quality Franchise QB – so much so that I fear he will be the Julio Jones of this regime.

As a complete aside, I was thrilled with Kessler’s performance today. While I’ve discounted it in the past, the value of playing in a pro style offense in college seems to have legitimate value in the early part of a QB’s career. It’s not the only thing to consider, but it would be a mistake not to consider it at all, especially as more college teams adopt variations of the spread.

I said Wentz is handling it fantastic. After yesterday I’m giving him credit.

That said, the D is allowing 9 points per game so far. Yet no one is bothering to talk about that. They are playing absurd.

Had we picked Wentz he would be on the sidelines injured due to Erving.

Wentz 1st QB in NFL history to start his 1st 3 games with a TD pass in each game with NO INT’s.

But Soups soupid ass says he’s trash and was GLAD the Browns didn’t draft him.

BTW he is the leading NFL rookie for Offensive rookie of the year and rookie of the year. But yeah soup, your dumb ass said he was garbage and I was wrong and I didn’t know what I was talking about.

REALITY says QUITE a different story there ole soup.

I was glad we didn’t draft him too. I still am, because if we had drafted him he’d be standing next to Josh McCown with his shoulder in a sling instead of RG3 standing there. Apparently the Eagles didn’t get the memo that they’re supposed to suck this year. They just pulled the Steelers pants down on national TV.

DS you’ve been here long enough to know how it works; Soup says everyone is garbage and then 2 years later reminds us that he ‘said so’ about the ones that actually are.

He’s on mute – I’m sure he’s bragging about how awesome Ryan Mallett, Zach Mettenberger, Blake Bortles and Ryan Tannehill (5th year still no playoffs) are.

One of the things Wentz has THRIVED at is getting rid of the ball quickly and precisely. SO I don’t hold with your contentio he would be injured. That and his escapability and ability to reset is BETTER than any QB on the roster.
