I honestly didn’t really follow college at all this year.

I’m kinda hoping we fill our need at linebacker via trade or free agency. Our biggest problem on defense, in my opinion, was out interior defense’s inability to make a pre-snap read. They were hanging back at the snap for an instant or two to watch where the ball was going before getting on their assignment, and generally found themselves a step behind tight ends or running backs. Goodson and Smith were the exceptions, as they’d attack right at the snap, but they were a bit too slow physically to get after athletic players.

I want a linebacker with a few years experience who is still in his prime. I understand that won’t be cheap, but especially if they’re someone we can add to our core for the next few years, I think it’s worthwhile.

Plus, I’m always a big fan of filling needs in free agency, so you can use the draft to upgrade talent by picking the best player available. That’s what established, good teams do, and we are entering the realm of established, good teams.
