MDP Sack AttackParticipantI spent 30 minutes hitting refresh for tickets, both during yesterday’s presale and today’s public sale, only to find they’d sold out in ten minutes both days. So now it’s an issue of which night between now and next week I get drunk enough to wander into the wrong part of the internet and get mugged by stubhub.
Tito…words cannot describe the job he has done. You wouldn’t think we only have one starting pitcher who has any business taking the hill in a playoff game. I guarantee, starting next season, his bullpen usage in playoff games will be mimicked by all but the most traditional of managers.
And Merritt…wow. Just wow.
My only concern is how he’ll manage the pen without a DH.
But I’m not worried. Which is a weird feeling.

ShooterModeratorIce, quit poo pooing our celebratory banter.
Browns: first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl after an 0-6 start.
Well, everyone better find Jesus, or whatever deity of their choice, because if that happens you can be sure that there’s an asteroid the size of the moon that will impact the Earth dead on during the Browns post game interviews and end humanity.

October 25, 2016 at 7:45 am #6337
soupParticipantKluber needs a Cy Young performance tonight. We got to jump out on Lester early. We need the Cubs pressure to mount and the Jake to rock for 9 innings.
IMO for us to win we need to sweep the first 2 and take 1 out of 3 away.

October 25, 2016 at 11:45 am #6338
MDP Sack AttackParticipantWe need the Cubs pressure to mount and the Jake to rock for 9 innings.
This is my main concern…they let season ticket holders buy 8 tickets and sell them, so there’s been an absurd amount of tickets moving through brokers. Standing room have been selling for $700. Standing room in Wrigley is going for $2500…the Jake is going to be packed with Cubs fans. Not kidding even a little bit.
Run on Lester. In last year’s ALCS, Kansas City had seven steals off him…we need to do the same. Tomlin needs to continue his roll, and we need either Bauer or Merritt to give us a gem. We need to go all in on manufacturing runs early, so we can get even a small lead and hand it over to Miller.
October 26, 2016 at 6:49 am #6346
soupParticipantKluber flat out dominated. To have a guy like Perez drive in 4 is huge. Getting production from an under .200 hitter is gravy.
Anyone else notice that the ump was squeezing MILLER? I was pissed. Through the first 6 I called all but 3 pitches. The ump was fantastic in his consistency. 7:and 8 all Cubs pitches were strikes and Miller hit the same spots and got called off the plate. My only thought is he couldn’t read Miller’s pitches and kept getting fooled.

ParticipantReally? Did we watch the same game? I thought he was wildly inconsistent. He had a couple way off the plate that he called strikes. In one at bat, I swear the same pitch was called a strike and then a ball.

soupParticipantReally? Did we watch the same game? I thought he was wildly inconsistent. He had a couple way off the plate that he called strikes. In one at bat, I swear the same pitch was called a strike and then a ball.
Through 6 he was dead on with consistency in his zone. Overall for the game on Mike and Mike they said he was 93% accurate for the strike zone.

October 26, 2016 at 12:30 pm #6352
MDP Sack AttackParticipantI believe Dawg E Dawg was referring to Miller who, while I would not say wildly inconsistent, was overthrowing a bit on his slider. Understandable for a very emotional player who was pitching in his first World Series.
Not sure if you guys read this article he penned:
http://www.theplayerstribune.com/andrew-miller-indians-world-series/
I’d expect he’s settled in now. The Cubs had their best shot at breaking Miller that they will in this entire series, and he still slammed the door in their face.
I’m heading down today, hoping to get some tickets on the street. I heard from a few of my regulars that standing room is going for $200 around the stadium, as opposed to $600 on Stub Hub. If nothing else, I just want to soak in the ambiance.
October 26, 2016 at 12:53 pm #6353Dawg E. Dawg
ParticipantNope, I was actually referring to the ump. His zone pretty wide, and he called a couple of strikes that were out of the top of the zone. I wouldn’t say it favored one team or the other, though.
October 26, 2016 at 1:03 pm #6354
MDP Sack AttackParticipantGotcha. Just to play Devil’s advocate, I would hate to be an ump and try to call Kluber’s breaking ball and Miller’s slider in the same game.
October 26, 2016 at 5:01 pm #6355
ShooterModeratorThe ump became inconsitent behind the plate once Lester started crying and whining. Up until that point, he was great. Then all the sudden in a tempter tantrum for the ages, Lester pulled aside the home plate ump after the inning was over (I believe the 6th) and whined like a mule. After that, he changed.
That was just total bullshit all the way around.
But I could care less. It didn’t work, and we won.
October 27, 2016 at 9:31 am #6359
soupParticipantBauer was bad last night. Overall that was ugly. Also, that ump best never end up behind the plate again. Arrieta was getting calls if he was within 6 inches of the plate.
Tomlin must go 7 shutout innings tomorrow for us to have a shot going against the obvious Cy Young winner.

I have no concern about him at all, all I’m saying is he had a bad game that cost 2 runs and we still won. That’s rare to miss 2 runs and win. Lindor is simply awesome. No slight against him. Bases loaded one out he’d be my choice at the plate.

And hey, Santana didn’t embarrass himself in the field! Bauer isn’t going to keep them off the board, but hes going to fight. if we can put up 4 runs I’ll like our chances. I think this can be the game where our base running finally comes back around.
October 30, 2016 at 1:44 pm #6391
soupParticipantI agree. I’m just greedy and want a 3rd shutout in a series clinching game. I want this game to be Bauer redemption.
For that to happen his curve has to be on and fastball limited.

MDP Sack AttackParticipantI’m all about the Bauer redemption. He’s a weirdo, everyone is on his case, and in all fairness he’s had a weak postseason. I don’t blame him for the drone thing one bit, it’s a fluke accident related to an innocent hobby. And he was a key cog for us this season…I’d love to see him have a huge role in our win.
Heading down to the watch party at Jacob’s Field…fair warning, I’m bad luck. I went to game 2…

On the other hand, if I’d told you in April that we’d have a chance to put Kluber on the mound for a game 7 in the World Series…
Just keep Naquin off the field. Love the kid, he’s had one hell of a rookie season, but the pressure clearly got to him and he cost us two early runs and blew a chance to bring us in close with the bases loaded.
November 2, 2016 at 9:20 pm #6460
soupParticipantKluber should’ve been pulled immediately after we tied it in the 3rd. Asked way too much of him and it was obvious from the beginning he didn’t have it tonight. It’s middle 4 right now. Down 3-1. Kluber better not see inning 5 and the hitters owe it to Kluber to get at least 2 here

November 3, 2016 at 12:42 pm #6468
ShooterModeratorHere’s the problem with the Cubs fans being at the Jake. It’s not on Indians fans, at all, and has nothing to do with pride or anything like that.
The Indians have a season ticket base of about 6,000 people. When they put 30+ thousand tickets on sale for these games, the secondary market, (StubHub, Amazing Tickets, Merks Ticket Agency etc) swooped in and bought up almost all of the remaining tickets, and then put them up to the highest bidder. Which in this case, wound up being Cubs fans. Especially considering the close proximity to Cleveland, and the history behind the Cubs, fans willing to spend 3, 4 thousand dollars (and even higher in many cases) on a ticket, bought them.
So basically, a third party came in and snubbed the local fanbase and pushed them out, knowing full well that Cubs fans would pay a higher premium to get them. I called Merks just to check on pricing/availability of tickets, and no bullshit the very 1st question I was asked was “are you coming from Chicago or in Cleveland?”
Not what are looking for, what’s your budget, do you want standing room only. They knew exactly what they were doing. Why sell them to me for $500 when they know damn well a rich Cubs fan would pay $4,000?
The city of Cleveland was absolutely blackballed by the 3rd party ticket brokers. I’ve long railed against them and their ability to pull this shit, and it finally reared it’s disgusting head at an all-time level. These people are scumbags, and could care less about the common fan.
It wasn’t our fault. There was nothing that we could do.
