BillWunkle replied to the topic Hue Jackson's statements point to Browns taking new direction at QB in the forum Browns Forum 9 years, 3 months ago
The biggest thing I took from the Jackson press conference is that he’s going to hold all his players accountable for their actions on and off the field – which to me translates into “Goodbye Johnny Manziel and Justin Gilbert“.
Jackson knows exactly what he’s looking for in a quarterback. Given the fact that none of these QB’s coming out is…[Read more]

I realize that other place kickers have been successful after reaching 40, but I’m not sure how much Phil has in left in the tank. Granted, no one knows this stadium as well as Phil does; but Coons has done a fine job in his first season with the Browns. Fix the issues with the people blocking in front of him and Coons will be fine. As much as I…[Read more]

Just to keep you guys updated . . . The Browns have retained Special Teams Coordinator Chris Tabor. Love the move because Chris is a good coach and even better person from what I’ve heard.

Browns Head Coach Hue Jackson announced earlier today that the team will retain Special Teams Coordinator Chris Tabor, who has been with the organization since 2011. This is an excellent move in maintaining […]

Another name I’d like to toss out there for DC . . . Lovie Smith, anyone?
BillWunkle replied to the topic Are we on the right course now? in the forum Browns Forum 9 years, 3 months ago
Getting the right Head Coach and assistant coaches in place is only PART of the solution. Quite frankly, the Browns need to do a better job of drafting players – particularly early on in the draft – then DEVELOP that talent to its full potential. The last seven first round draft picks over the last four years for this team have been the following…[Read more]

I hear Frazier’s and Horton’s names a LOT. Horton is currently under contract at Tennessee and may not be granted permission to interview. Frazier is currently the DC at Tampa Bay and is under contract as well. Perhaps if the tag of “Assistant Head Coach” is added to the DC responsibilities, that might change things – perhaps not.
My guess is…[Read more]
BillWunkle replied to the topic HASLAM LANDS HUE JACKSON in the forum Browns Forum 9 years, 3 months ago
What absolutely surprises me is that other teams wanted him, but the Browns are the team that signed him. I just hope that the Browns don’t feel obligated to spend the 2nd overall pick on a QB whose talent doesn’t justify the selection just because of the team’s dire need at the position.
BillWunkle wrote a new post, HASLAM LANDS HUE JACKSON 9 years, 3 months ago
According to sources inside ESPN, the Browns are on the verge of signing Hue Jackson as their next head coach. Details are fuzzy, but Jackson was most recently the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals […]
BillWunkle replied to the topic The Names Being Tossed Around… in the forum Browns Forum 9 years, 3 months ago
Considering how the front office is being structured, the most likely hire will be “up-and-coming” coordinator guy who hasn’t been a head coach yet. Coaches seldom get more than two opportunities to be the head coach of an NFL franchise; so that probably removes Jackson, Kelly and Marrone from the final equation. In Marrone’s case, the browns will…[Read more]

I’ll be even more shocked when DawgSoldier does a mock draft when he does NOT select an Ohio State player for the Browns.

Of the QB’s considered to be the top two, I prefer Paxton Lynch over Jared Goff. Lynch has the height and frame you’re looking for in a prototypical NFL QB combined with a strong arm and the agility to extend plays when protection breaks down. While Goff is an accurate passer, his arm strength is lacking. He’s pretty much the Colt McCoy of this…[Read more]

I can imagine the comments coming from Dee Haslam’s pie hole when the inner circle is reviewing film of potential draft picks and free agents. The commentary would be riveting.

BillWunkle replied to the topic Who do we keep? in the forum Browns Forum 9 years, 3 months ago
I think it’s a given that Ray Farmer and Jim O’Neil are gone; Farmer for his ineptitude in the draft and overall loss with reality, and O’Neil for his inability to properly utilize the talent given him. I would be willing to give Flip another year at OC if the people that Haslam brings in to govern football operations (looks like it very well…[Read more]

Let me get this straight, Scooter . . . You want a quarterback that the “shrimpy” Colt McCoy towers over, lacks the frame/bone structure to withstand the pounding of a sixteen game NFL regular season, whose footwork and mechanics are such a mess that his throwing accuracy is questionable at best, and whose off the field escapades by their very…[Read more]
BillWunkle replied to the topic Could a 410lb TE make it in the NFL? in the forum Browns Forum 9 years, 4 months ago
My apologies for not responding sooner, MDP. He has some skills for certain, but I think he’ll need to make it in the NFL as an OT first in order to maximize his reps at the next level; and probably at RT because I think he could be a road grater type of tackle. I do think he’ll make an excellent TE in a JUMBO package. My only question is his…[Read more]
