Heard the same at first, Bill. Then it evolved into Zampese getting hired as some sort of assistant role, one that (hopefully) doesn’t involve playcalling duties. As for Ryan, that’s an interview supposedly happening Wednesday. Dude’s never called plays before, so this should be a fun hire if it happens.
In other news, Mike Pettine is…[Read more]

I gotta say, I’ve never seen anything quite like this. Worth noting this video was made a few weeks before the season ended.
“Enjoy”.

Oh. Duh, I even remembered reading this a while back. This is what happens when you browse click-bait “what-ifs” and just read headlines. Something along the lines of him and Gruden not getting along.
You’re right, their cap would be fucked, but a trade would be possible (though highly unlikely). In either case, nevermind. Wouldn’t be worth…[Read more]

Surprised nobody’s mentioning Carr, either (assuming Gruden lets him go).

Alright, back to the draft…
So I just watched highlights on three of the top prospects (yes, highlights, not full games…so I didn’t get to see bad plays)- Rosen, Darnold, and Allen. My take thus far…
Rosen: definitely the most “pro-ready”, but with the lowest ceiling of these 3. Very much a traditional pocket passer, makes great throws. My…[Read more]

Those numbers get you at least two. And two is a shitload better than none.
I don’t give two fucks what division he’s from. He’s light years better than anything we have. Not to mention that I doubt those losses fall solely on his shoulders.
And lets face it…our options are pretty limited. We’re very likely overpaying to get anyone here, and…[Read more]

Knock Cousins all you like…dude has thrown for over 4000 yards for the past 3 seasons…with a 65% completion rate.
You could take 1000 off of that total, and it beats any QB we’ve had in years.
DawgPoundDude replied to the topic So, Who Do Ya Take? in the forum Browns Forum 7 years, 3 months ago
That’s actually a pretty good comparison. However, if we take him, I hope he isn’t 36 years old by the time he becomes elite.

DAYUM, he just broke out the Brandon Weeden argument. So if it’s up to Soup, he Mike Holmgren’s the fuck outta this draft?!
I’m with Blump- screw your size prejudice, I like Mayfield. Dude’s got fire.

Looks like we got options. Both Rosen and Darnold have declared.
Who goes #1?

Even Mike Holmgren? If I’m not mistaken, we hired him based on Wolf’s advice. That’s not to say that this isn’t a good hire…it really seems as if Dorsey is putting together a solid team, and at the least, he doesn’t seem clueless.
But this team has a way of laughing in the face of past individual achievements and turning them on their heads.…[Read more]

I think Blump touched on something in his other thread that seems worth talking about- the fact that Hue keeps calling plays the way he does when we clearly don’t possess the talent level required. That said, we know Hue has had previous success. He just doesn’t know how to work with what he’s got.
Sticking with that theme, who are the likely…[Read more]

Blah blah blah. I didn’t read any of that post, just the name of the author.
Good to see you, Blump.
Now, off to read that long-ass post.
DawgPoundDude replied to the topic Rosen not declaring for draft to avoid Browns? in the forum Browns Forum 7 years, 3 months ago
Relax Soup, I really can’t see him going in round 1 (at least not to us). The only quality I see from him personally is playing for a cold-climate team. That said, every mock from here until April will tie him to the Browns in some way.
I WOULD love to see us do the Eli/Rivers reboot with the Giants though, especially if it involves Darnold.…[Read more]

Sam Darnold, if he declares, would be the much safer play.
Another name I keep hearing casually tossed around- Josh Allen. Don’t be shocked if we do some wheeling and dealing much like the Giants did with Eli, and we end up with him as our Rivers (or Spergeon Wynn).
Personally, I like having options within the first few picks. We may end up…[Read more]

Yeah see, one of the big things they realized was bringing wrestling too close to it. I completely agree…looked more like a sideshow than a serious sport.
I’m willing to bet that 2.0 will be a much more refined product.
