Amazing how good this offense looked today. Great win!

So, who do we select with the first overall pick?

What have we gotten from Watson so far? 1, 1 1/2 good games?

    Worst trade ever.

Yeah, I saw that Florio wrote that the last two years could be voided if he’s suspended again. I don’t know what to think of that.

But even if we got out of that, we’ve restructured so many times that the cap hit would be huge–even if it’s stretched over two years. But we do have like 60 million in cap space now (ironically due to restructuring Watson’s contract again.)

What a freaking mess. I miss Baker, too. I’m glad he’s found a home in Tampa.

I tried to start a new thread, but it says it’s awaiting moderation.

I was just posting on good ol’ Deshaun being in trouble again.

No, there’s no way we cut Watson. Even trading him would be a headache, even with moving around money like they do.

He’s had a couple great games, some good. Far from the Houston Watson we thought we were getting though. We haven’t really gotten 230 million dollars worth. Maybe next year. He gets a lot of credit for the TN game and the second Balt. game.

But to me, in a small sample size, Flacco’s just looked better.

The trading him away for all I care statement was not to be taken literally.

I agree 100 percent. Sometimes his playcalling drives me crazy, but being at 8-5 with all these injuries….gotta give the man his due. Hurst is done for the season as well (not a starter, but still).

Flacco’s really looked good so far. I think he’s only going to get better as well.

And props to Stef and Berry for getting us Hopkins.

Nice to see the team bounce back.
Jim Schwartz is such an upgrade.
Woods’s defense gave up 18 points in the last 11 minutes against Green Bay. Can’t say that I’m shocked.

I’m surprised he fell that far. I was white-knuckling the last day of the draft because I wanted us to take him. I loved watching him play while he was with UCLA. Really, the only reason I’m into the preseason is to watch him. LOL

Who’s your preference for defensive coordinator? Mayo is out, so we’re looking at Schwartz, Flores and Desai–unless the team wants to bring somebody else into the mix. I think I want Schwartz.

You’re not the only won who keeps checking. LOL

As for Deon, I’ll say no. But only because I think/guess that if he succeeds at Colorado, maybe he goes to another college job, maybe in the SEC. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he did eventually end up in the NFL. All just speculation on my part.

Almost forgot about this. Figured I’d leave it here for a laugh.

A friend of mine that I met on Dawgbones and I have kept in touch over the years. For the Jets game, he came out and brought his girlfriend. He told me that she doesn’t really know anything about football.

But during the game, she asked my friend, “How come they don’t just keep giving it to number 24?”

That’s how good Nick Chubb is.

I joined Dawgbones in 2005 and joined BFT after DB closed. It’s been a great run. Ice, thanks for giving us Dawgbones alums a place to go after DB closed down.

BF4L, DS, Dawgpound Dude, MDP, Dawg E. Dawg, Dawson, Soup, Bill Wunkle, Shooter, Ice, and anybody I may have missed–I’ve enoyed enjoyed reading your posts over the past 16+ years. This has been a great group to hang out with.

My two favorite memories are Soup somehow figuring out Phil Savage’s email address (that still cracks me up) and of course, the greatest thread of all–the Brady Train.

I’ll miss Soup’s Gameballs and Goats (and everyone telling him that he was wrong) and DS and Wunkle’s mocks.

I’m so Watsoned-out right now. I was always uncomfortable with getting him and now another case comes up. How many more? The team not only traded a ton of draft capital and fan goodwill, they traded away the 2022 season as well.

Regardless, I’ll keep watching, even if I have to hold my nose while doing so.

If any of you ever start up a site or find a good one, I can be reached at goodell93@gmail.com.

Take care guys, and thanks for everything.

Matt Rhule’s complaint regarding Jacoby Brissett spike misses the mark

More on the spike from Florio. I’d have to go back and watch it again myself, but this is what he saw.

“Along the way, I realized a fairly important fact. I had yet to watch the play. So I did.

Brissett immediately began a continuous throwing motion to spike the ball. He spiked it quickly. Also, while not moving his left foot, he took a big step backward with his right foot. It made the play look odd and unconventional. But it complied with Item 3.

Also, Item 4 (which some have been quoting) doesn’t apply. There was no delay in the passing action for strategic purposes. There was no delay at all.”

“I did not see the helmet to helmet contact because I was paying more attention the the arm so I went back and watched it and there was definitely helmet to helmet contact”

Yeah, I didn’t see it at first, then saw another angle and definitely saw it.

“It wasn’t pretty and they have a lot to work on but I will take a 24-23 win on the road against Baker who looked like … Baker.”

Yeah, BFFL, I agree. Baker’s stat line looked the same as almost every week he was with us–and I’m a Baker bro. It is what it is.

I think we’ll see more production from Jacoby as the season goes on. At least I hope so.

Seriously worth a fourth rounder. We finally have a kicker. That kick had room to spare as well. When we drafted him, I looked up that kick he made in the fog against Florida(?) and was impressed. He saved us today.

“That’s amazing news for us, and a great look for our front office as well. Usually we’re the ones scouting other teams for a GM, good to see the worm had turned.”

I had the same reaction. Very cool. We also had Glenn Cook, our vice president of player personnel, get an interview with Minnesota and Chicago.

Love getting the extra picks, as well.

Yeah, DS, we know you can’t stand Baker.

Anyway, Stefanski trotting out an injured Mayfield did nothing for the team. And I love Mayfield. But not sitting him while he was clearly injured didn’t help the team. We signed Keenum for a reason. Probably wouldn’t have won a lot more games with him, but I think he could’ve gotten a couple.

The play calling’s bizarre. Can’t agree with you guys more on that. Soup cited the pass v. rush attempts of the last several games–all with a badly beaten up QB. Makes no sense. If anything, you’d want to run the ball even more to protect him. Stef went pass happy.

“This seems eerily reminiscent of when Drew Brees got hurt and San Diego decided they were better off moving on. They also had the benefit of a #1 pick with a generational prospect available, which we do not in this case.”

Great video on the similarities between Brees and Baker.

I’d sit him for a few weeks. We really don’t have much of a chance with Baker in there in his condition. Rest him next Sunday and we’ll see where he is coming out of the bye week.

Yeah, I couldn’t believe that. Why not take another shot?

I’ll throw in a game ball for Delpit for that hit on Mills.

Goat for Woods for sure. Took forever to turn the heat on a rookie QB in his first NFL action.

I’m hoping we come out of day 2 with a WR as well. We can come out of day 2 with three high quality players. I think OBJ will be gone after this year just due to cap concerns.

He missed a lot of games in college due to injury. I don’t mind them going corner–I would have much preferred the LB out of ND–but we have two CBs who have trouble staying on the field as it is. Quality player, but personally don’t like the pick at all due to the injury concerns.

    Bill,

I agree with your opinions on Trevor and Fields. Love Trevor, but the “generational” terms gets tossed around a bit too loosely. Still, I think he’s going to be really good.

Fields is also my #2 QB in this draft. He’s done nothing to hurt his cause since the season has been over. As for Lance and Wilson, I have no clue what to think about them. Jones seems like a safe pick, but….a top ten guy? Top five?

If I see Fields drafted after Jones….wow….a true SMH thing.

Love Zaven Collins as well. He’s my top guy for our first rounder, even if we have to move up a bit for him.

The timing issue may be on “pause” as the whole league is waiting on cap numbers to be announced so they KNOW what they are working with.

    Along those lines….
