This team needs offensive playmakers in the worst way.
I wish I could say “oh, but these guys will come along”…but outside of Coleman, nobody has been real consistent catching the ball. We haven’t seen a lot of the running game thus far (Duke needs to stop with the fumbilitis), although Dayes is intriguing. Beyond that, nobody really screams “threat”, do they?
Still, we’ve showed growth from last season so far. Remains to be seen if we trend up or down by season’s end, and I’m sure that will determine what we use those first 5 picks for.Yeah. I expected Ricardo Louis to step up, but I haven’t seen it, and what was the point of cutting Barnidge?
August 28, 2017 at 11:15 am #9153MavParticipantI see 4 wins. And that’s not a terrible thing. This team needs offensive playmakers in the worst way. It would of been great if Njoku had run away with the te job.
August 20, 2017 at 6:35 pm #9057MavParticipantHi Shooter. I’m not gonna touch the well thought out arguments comment. I’m just gonna smile and nod. ?
August 18, 2017 at 5:22 pm #9052MavParticipantGood. Life has gotten in the way. And then when I want to post half the time my damn password doesn’t work
August 18, 2017 at 3:51 pm #9050MavParticipantHello fellas. Just figured I’d stop in and say hi!
August 7, 2016 at 11:48 pm #5469MavParticipantI think we absolutely nailed this draft. Coleman has been everything I doubted he could be. I thought he was a typical Baylor product. Run fast, catch ball run for td. But apparently hes just a playmaker. Now if Josh Gordon can keep his head out of his ass, we can actually have an offense.
YAY
August 7, 2016 at 11:46 pm #5468MavParticipantIt took 4 years. But we finally will have the qb I said we should of drafted four years ago when we failed and ended up with T POOR. I agree with Shooter though to a degree. Its a farce of a competition. Unless the competition is that they want to see RG3 lose the job, because being flat out honest, we already know what McCown is. They have a decade of tape on the guy. What we don’t know is if RG3 can be molded by Hue. if that’s the case, I’m okay with that as well.
May 19, 2016 at 4:22 am #5282MavParticipantScooby Wright?
May 18, 2016 at 8:45 am #5267MavParticipant*and suddenly leaves toxic thread, quietly shutting the door behind him*
May 18, 2016 at 5:07 am #5266MavParticipantHonest to god. At this point, I don’t care who it is. I just want a winner. It could be Tree out there. Just someone give you guys s winner.
May 17, 2016 at 3:48 pm #5258MavParticipantActually he’s exactly right on this one. I recall because it was heated between me and soup vs shooter and that other dude. It’s okay though. Until of course we claim him. Ugh
May 17, 2016 at 10:48 am #5254MavParticipantHe’s very mediocre. He has a big arm. But that’s it. No accuracy, no anticipation, inability to read defenses. He’s the anti-Kessler. Maybe that’s what Hue sees.
May 3, 2016 at 12:41 pm #5174MavParticipantYou googled that lol
May 3, 2016 at 2:48 am #5170MavParticipantYou believe that? Its not true of course cause we drafted Robiskie and Norwood. But Coleman was the first since Braylon in the first. And Mayle was the only one drafted under Farmer.
May 2, 2016 at 6:01 pm #5166MavParticipantSoup- I like you when I saw the name said this is stupid. But then when I researched it I said he’s a stretch the field guy for RG3 who can stretch the field. This guy attacks the ball. He can also take a screen to the house.
With the DE’s Ogbah is gonna be an OLB. Probably play in nickel situations as a pass rusher. I loved everything they did outside of Kessler. I wanted Dak Prescott at that point.
May 2, 2016 at 5:24 am #5141MavParticipantIt’s a little over blown. By all accounts he’s excited. Why shouldn’t he be? He’s the number 1 receiver right now.
May 2, 2016 at 2:19 am #5140MavParticipantI like the idea around the moves. Get as many young bodies in and lay the foundation. Obviously I don’t feel we will win many games this year so loading up future draft is a great idea.
April 8, 2016 at 10:03 am #4698MavParticipantAnd Miami claimed Olomo. Boo
March 30, 2016 at 3:20 am #4602MavParticipantExactly. Signing RG3 changes nothing.
March 25, 2016 at 5:57 pm #4583MavParticipantAlex Smith I think would fit your criteria. But he’s a special kind of awesome.
March 25, 2016 at 5:53 pm #4582MavParticipantFair enough ?
March 24, 2016 at 8:42 pm #4568MavParticipantI’m as happy as I’ve been in a while. Four years later, I finally got the guy I wanted.
March 11, 2016 at 2:40 am #4414MavParticipantCan we just sit the year out and fast forward to next years draft?
March 5, 2016 at 5:11 am #4338MavParticipantBahahaha. Read shooters post and cried. Then laughed, and cried again.
March 2, 2016 at 3:51 pm #4316MavParticipantI want to keep him but he’s 30. I wish he had stayed on his original deal.
March 1, 2016 at 9:47 pm #4303MavParticipantWhat this man said?
February 29, 2016 at 5:05 pm #4290MavParticipantThanks Bill!
February 29, 2016 at 5:03 pm #4289MavParticipantYou will not see me on this board until he’s gone.
February 26, 2016 at 5:16 pm #4265MavParticipantBut what about hand size? ?
February 26, 2016 at 2:46 am #4259MavParticipantAll this logic in here. Impressive.
February 22, 2016 at 3:16 am #4203MavParticipantThanks bro. It’s good to be back. Yes, it’s quite odd but refreshing to see soup come around.
February 21, 2016 at 8:02 pm #4200MavParticipantI guess I’d wonder what Hue sees in him, but I’ll support him even though I Want Goff. But I figure we got the changes I wanted, we got the best coaching candidate in Hue. We brought back Horton who neither you nor I wanted gone. Eventually shit has to go right. Right? Lol
February 18, 2016 at 7:13 pm #4193MavParticipantActually disagree on this. I believe in Hue. I believe that if they take a qb at two, they believe his floor is Andy Dalton. I’m for the first time throwing my entire support behind whoever they pick. Gonna switch it up.
February 18, 2016 at 2:34 pm #4190MavParticipantJared Goff is going to be the best qb in this draft Class. It amazes me how many times people talk about Goff’s size yet it was Wentz who missed significant time. Goff took a ton of sacks and didn’t get hurt. Also, a lot of teams have started having qbs wear braces on their plant leg. Non issue.
February 18, 2016 at 2:30 pm #4189MavParticipantDone
February 18, 2016 at 1:43 pm #4187MavParticipantI quit reading when DawgSoldier started his bullshit made up smear campaign against Goff. It’s well noted that Goff is a gym and film rat. But of course DS makes shit up as he goes along. This is exactly why I’ve stopped posting here as much.
February 18, 2016 at 1:02 pm #4186MavParticipantI don’t hate it. But we aren’t getting Eric Berry or Wilkerson, and per usual we disagree on the qb. I prefer Goff to Wentz, BUT unlike in the past I have full faith in whoever Hue wants at qb. Good write up.
February 18, 2016 at 12:58 pm #4185MavParticipantI’ll be highly pissed off if this guy isn’t a Brown
January 4, 2016 at 9:55 am #3551MavParticipantI recall catching repeated verbal beat downs for being pissed when Haslam was given the team.
December 13, 2015 at 10:28 am #3226MavParticipantThere is no way you fire Flip. That’s crazy. Flip has had bottom of the barrel talent at EVERY skill position this year, and not one time have I truly said that Flip is the issue. Our best RB is a third down running back. Our best receiver is 5’10, and we have utilized a guy at tight end who before this year had never amassed more than 13 receptions in a season. Give Flip time to grow. But nuke the entire defense staff from orbit.
December 13, 2015 at 10:21 am #3225MavParticipantWell, we can pretty much cross off Connor Cook if Dawg Soldier is advocating for him. He pounded the table for Zack Mettenberger, and Ryan Tannenhill. So ill go with anyone other than Connor Cook.
December 9, 2015 at 8:09 am #3033MavParticipantIt has to be Paxton Lynch. He is truly the only guy I believe is going to be a franchise qb. Any time that Goff has faced a good defense, he has wilted. I watched him against Utah, and that was as poor a game as I have seen.
Id love to trade down to around 10 and get Shaq Lawson from Clemson. Not nearly the fan fair as Joey Bosa, but my goodness is he disruptive. But, early word is that this is considered a weak draft and no one is looking to trade up. Especially with Tennessee currently holding number two and not looking for a qb. Someone looking to trade will probably look to trade with them before us.
December 9, 2015 at 8:02 am #3032MavParticipantI posted this on Twitter, and I will put it here in a little more elaborate scheme. HI GUYS. Been moving and having a little one who is now over a year old has kept me away, and being honest, the browns haven’t really given me any reason to waste cyberspace on them. BUTTTTT. This does have a hypothetical to it.
The most obvious one to me is that Haslam has to offer Peyton Manning (hypothetical is that he retires0 a significant share of ownership in the browns. That also makes him the President of football operations. Peyton Manning then in turn hires Adam Gase.
If that doesn’t work, I would bring in Greg Roman as head coach. His offense is as innovative as any in the league. He has the Bills in playoff position despite the fact that their qb is tyrod taylor, and their dominant defense is not dominant anymore.
As for a gm honestly, I don’t have a problem with Farmer. Hear me out before I get decapitated. Pettine WANTED Justin Gilbert. That was the guy he had to have, and the minute he found out he was immature wanted nothing to do with him. Pettine WANTED Shelton. He has gotten nothing out of him. The Cam Erving pick still I maintain is a second year pick. hes going to be our center next year. Alex Mack god bless him cant wait to get out of Cleveland, and honestly who could blame him? Cam Erving despite struggling at guard, has played where ever they have asked him to play.
So in reality, I can only blame a first round pick on farmer and that is Johnny Manziel. he was not strong enough to stand up to haslam. yes, haslam is the boss, but when its your job to pick players, and you know your head coach wants nothing to do with Johnny, and to be frank no one other than Haslam did, you have to stand up to him and say hey, this is my show. He drafts Bridgewater or Carr, and this is a completely different scenario right now.
So to recap. id go with Peyton/gase
or Roman/Farmer.
August 31, 2015 at 4:22 pm #1804MavParticipantsnickers
August 31, 2015 at 12:32 pm #1801MavParticipantThe bills cut Fred Jackson today. If he isn’t in Cleveland tomorrow, ill be very disappointed in this team.
August 31, 2015 at 12:31 pm #1800MavParticipantIm not sure that’s accurate. I think that is more on the coaches. he is a lock to make this team. No need for him to push it. Its a developmental year for him anyway. Them Cutting Wynn today, who really performed well in camp is the first indicator that Pryor is bulletproof. And as a guy who is still pissed off that they cut Charles Johnson last year, im fine with it. Pryor’s potential is unmatched by anyone on this roster that isn’t suspended for the entire fucking season.
August 31, 2015 at 12:29 pm #1799MavParticipantI do too Ice. But its NOT a good thing when I hear, oh, its his mechanics putting stress on his elbow. But we aren’t going to change his Mechanics. WHY THE FUCK NOT. That makes no sense to me what so ever. I have the same problem. Being shorter 5’11 190 in college, I always would drop my arm angles to find passing lanes, and I had a lot of elbow soreness. It doesn’t go away, and it doesn’t get better.
August 30, 2015 at 5:05 pm #1791MavParticipantYeah, thanks McCown. That was fucking awful.
August 30, 2015 at 5:03 pm #1790MavParticipantDawgPress @DawgPressNet · Aug 29
#Browns insider confirming Johnny Manziel received 2nd opinion on elbow yesterday. Hearing it may require season ending surgery.August 30, 2015 at 1:58 am #1777MavParticipantYeah. Well now its looking like his season may be over. He got a second opinion, and its rumored that he will be having season ending surgery.
This is actually really good news. Now we should DEFINTELy be in play to get the first pick in the draft.
August 26, 2015 at 3:56 pm #1766MavParticipantI have hopes. Hope that we finally suck bad enough to get the first pick in the draft. We need to take Hackenburg. I know a lot of people will be pining for Cardale Jones, but get real. Hackenburg is where its at.
August 24, 2015 at 12:43 pm #1761MavParticipantIt seems we’re pinning almost all our offensive hopes to a rookie RB, which is not exactly ideal. If Johnson doesn’t provide the spark to our offense, who will? It’s certainly not going to be all the retread QB’s or WR’s.
Well lets see. Dwayne Bowe has barely got off the bike. Hes terrible anyways. Josh McCown was just what everyone said he was. Fine if there was no pressure. But the bills got minimal pressure on him and he freaked out.
West, and Crowell have no burst. The best looking back in camp was Shaun Draughn, who as a tarheel fan im always pulling for, but being honest with ourselves, is really a special teams guy.
Our receivers, Hartline looks like he will be a good chain mover. I love Gabriel. But what it appears is we have a whole bunch of slot guys, and not one single deep threat. Would of been nice to see Pryor, but he has the weakest hamstring in the league.
So yeah, here we are. Without Josh Gordon. SCREWED.
August 24, 2015 at 12:40 pm #1760MavParticipantI like Solomon. I would rather watch a guy with average talent that gives 110% on every play than a guy with loads of talent who only plays hard when he wants to. Solomon is not the solution to any of our defensive problems but neither is Mingo. Mingo is still built like Todd Pinkston and at best is a roleplayer on defense.
Ice I like the effort. But he is completely oblivious to the run. I mean, like horrendously bad. And its bad enough that kruger too is suspect against the run, but kruger is a bonafide sack man. Solomon isn’t that. I don’t know that Orchard would be any better against the run. Mingo is at least serviceable against the run, and good against the pass.
I don’t like our OLBS at all, and the more I see them play the more rage I feel towards the Browns for passing on KHALIL MACK.
remember that guy that I was pounding the table for?
August 24, 2015 at 9:57 am #1757MavParticipantI still cant believe the 49ers traded Andy Lee. I love that guy. He changes field position. Top punter in the league. About stopping the run. Scott Solomon, or aka, blood bath, is just that. He is all hustle, but he is clueless as to stopping the run. Hes bad. Like really bad. I never in my life thought I would say this, but we need Mingo back. BADLY.
August 24, 2015 at 9:53 am #1756MavParticipantI am waiting. I think that Duke Johnson is going to greatly improve this offense. he is truly the only dynamic playmaker we have on offense. Ray Farmer, for the things that he has done that I have liked, has done some pretty boneheaded things in his time as our gm. I really cant for the life of me understand the T West pick. I don’t at all understand the Cam Erving pick. And lets not get me started on the Justin Gilbert pick.
I will say this however. I suggested a LOT last year about Justin Gilbert returning kicks, and was shot down unanimously. Well, at least they can get that out useless worthless pick.
