Saves us from having a front office think he’s “good enough” for the third straight year. Left Tackle with our first pick. No question.

+1 to this. Vernon has been hurt a bunch the last couple years, but that can happen. He’s good for 8 sacks when healthy, plays the run well, and keeps the blockers from loading up against Garrett. Overpaid? Sure. We’ll also overpay his replacement because nobody wants to play here, and we’ll also overpay his replacements backup because nobody…[Read more]

Demetrius Harris always seemed like a promising rookie, with good hands and range to make catches over and around defenders. Then I found out he was 28 and in his sixth season. No big loss.
TJ Carrie will be missed, but he was set to be way overpaid as a third corner. We’d better do some serious shopping for our secondary, however.

Aren’t they all “football guys”, then? Maybe not Sashi?
Even forgotten names like “Kokonis” and “Heckert” were football guys, no?
Here’s the list:

What exactly is a “football guy”? I had thought we’d been using the term to differentiate between Depodesta, who comes from baseball, and Dorsey. But now that we’re also saying Berry is not a “football guy” and Holmgren might not be a “football guy”, I don’t think it means what I thought it did.

I’d go back farther than Kitchens and say that keeping Hue was his worst move. Should have just cleaned house after 1-31 and built a staff he was aligned with. Too many personell disagreements along with ineptitude.
Not bringing in competition for LT was his next biggest mistake, followed closely by trading Zietler.
Trading for Landry was his…[Read more]

∆this. If anyone has read Moneyball, MIT math nerds became obsessed with baseball in the 80s, because being essentially an individual sport you can quantitatively analyze player’s job performances. It’s actually fascinating and way more interesting than the movie.

I’m still convinced that Van Pelt is actually Kitchens with a mediocre disguise.

Also, hold on a minute. Did Freddie Kitchens just shave, take his hat off and sneak back on to the staff?

MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Alex Van Pelt New OC in the forum Browns Forum 6 years, 2 months ago
Aaron Rodgers had this to say when the Packers let Van Pelt go two off-season ago. I instantly felt really sad for Baker and every other QB we’ve had:
“Well, my quarterback coach didn’t get retained,” Rodgers told ESPN’s Golic and Wingo at the Super Bowl that February. “I thought that was an interesting change, really without consulting me. There…[Read more]

If you compare small distillery financially to the NFL, their flying one dude 20 times a year is definitely equivocal to the NFL chartering a team a plane 10 times.

I have friends who work for gin and rum brands who hop back and forth between Europe and the US multiple times a month. It’s not unheard of. And they don’t have chartered flights.

MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic More on Kareem Hunt in the forum Browns Forum 6 years, 2 months ago
We’d better not be that shy about it. Given his proven level of consistent production and willingness to play hard for a shitty Cleveland squad with a dead-man-walking coach, it’s a no brainer to give him the sub-$5 million 1st round tender. That’s less than Duke Johnson signed for last year. It’s a steal, and Hunt is the perfect fit for a West…[Read more]
