That hurts a lot. Solid pass rusher in his own right, but last year he showed a willingness to tie up blockers and free up the rest of the line; you don’t see a lot of linemen with his ability who are willing to do that. Our run defense just took a hit.

Wouldn’t be mad if they picked this kid up.
I’m pretty far away from team “we should upgrade over Higgins”. But competition is never a bad thing.

Up next on the media rumor mill: Von Miller.
I’d take him as a bounce-back candidate. I would definitely not give him the contract JJ just received.

He signed with the Cardinals.

Frequent, random injuries don’t worry me, some guys just have bad luck for a few years. I don’t think any of his are recurring or overly serious.

I’d definitely take another DE in the draft, regardless of whether we pick up JJ. I’d probably just prioritize it less with him on the roster. Don’t overlook that he can move inside for passing downs, which would make our third down defense fucking amazing.
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic JJ Watt seriously considering the Browns in the forum Browns Forum 4 years, 2 months ago
This would be amazing for our defense. The biggest problem last season was players being slow to make a pre-snap read and not attacking. JJ is the exact opposite of this, and also plays the run very well.

MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Who are your Top 5 available defenders that might be @26th? in the forum Browns Forum 4 years, 2 months ago
I honestly didn’t really follow college at all this year.
I’m kinda hoping we fill our need at linebacker via trade or free agency. Our biggest problem on defense, in my opinion, was out interior defense’s inability to make a pre-snap read. They were hanging back at the snap for an instant or two to watch where the ball was going before getting…[Read more]

That 2nd round pick turned into Chubb, which is an awesome use of taking on a contract.
Also notable; Osweiler was cut because he lost a training camp battle to Kizer. Ouch.

However, JJ Watt wants out as well, and he has a big contract with only one year left so I’d think he’ll be relatively affordable in trade. A second rounder? Hell yeah I’d trade that to unleash Garrett and Watt on quarterbacks.
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Matt Stafford in the forum Browns Forum 4 years, 2 months ago
Yeah, I really don’t get this one.

Lol at any Browns fans who finally have a quarterback who not only gets you to the playoffs, not only wins a playoff game, not only wins that game against Pittsburgh (beating them two years in a row), and takes the defending champs to the wire in th next round, then instantly want to ditch him for the next shiny thing.
I think the Jets seem most…[Read more]

We definitely should keep Hubbard and Lamm both, unless we find a serious upgrade to one or the other. They know our system, and both seem to keep themselves extremely well prepared and ready to play whenever needed.
Same with OBJ.
I would probably let Gustin walk. He looked solid last year but didn’t really do anything this year, even with…[Read more]

The Browns run the most Democratic offense since maybe the pre-Randy Moss Patriots. It’s awesome. Everyone touches the ball every game, it makes it tough for defenses to take any one player out of the game. It’s awesome. It also means that no player is likely to run up monster stats. Which doesn’t sit well with most any talented player. It’s going…[Read more]

Fucking amazing season. We can definitely upgrade a few spots, but beyond Sendejo and Parkey there’s nobody I’d be mad about seeing come back in some capacity.
Linebacker and corner are huge priorities. Depending on what happens with OBJ, we may need a big play receiver as well.

Christian Okoye was my favorite non-Browns player as a kid, and Travis Kelce is a proud Cleveland Heights native, so they’re probably my second or third favorite team at present. Really excited for this one.
I do actually have a good feeling for the Browns this week. The only caution I’d have regarding the Chiefs run defense; is it really bad, or…[Read more]

Bitonio is back as well! Things are looking up!!
I’m hoping these guys don’t have any long-term damage to their lungs like Garrett. The after affects of Covid are no damn joke, it’s been shown to damage lungs worse than chain smoking. That could be career altering for athletes.
