I definitely agree with that for the Steelers and Bengals, especially Cincy. Burrows is going to keep getting murdered, and I think Pittsburgh needs to restock both lines and consider their future QB as well.
But the Ravens filled two of their biggest needs (edge rusher and deep threat) with arguably the best players available to them, and there…[Read more]

I think the Ravens unfortunately drafted well (what else is new?), but the Bengals are going to let Burrows get murdered without a line, and Pittsburgh seems to be counting on a bounce-back year from their aging and disjointed team.

I was really hoping for Rousseau. I think we could have had a bad-ass trio like when NY had Strahan, Umenyiora, and Tuck.
But no complaints. Passes over the top of our defense killed us, and Williams is no sure bet. The secondary was a major need.

If the Browns do wind up drafting a corner high in the draft, I think that might end Greedy’s tenure with the Browns, actually. Drafted in 2019 so he’s not one of Berry’s “guys”.
The Orlando Brown trade is something I see as an omen. We’ve upgraded at edge rusher, and our biggest obstacle in the division just lost their pro-bowl tackle. LOVE THAT.
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Browns Cut Richardson in the forum Browns Forum 3 years, 12 months ago
I hope you’re all right! I just feel like we upgraded DE and downgraded DT, and I hope that’s not a wash.
Clearly the status quo wasn’t working on defense last year, so a shake up was needed. Berry has definitely earned some faith.
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Browns Cut Richardson in the forum Browns Forum 4 years ago
Yeah, bad timing. We cost Sheldon millions of dollars by cutting him just before the draft, and we’ve also locked ourselves into drafting a tackle who will have to start. I don’t get it.
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Browns sign Clowney in the forum Browns Forum 4 years ago
Seriously. No question this costs dude a few million, and timing wise it limits our draft options.
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Browns sign Clowney in the forum Browns Forum 4 years ago
Lol, or they cut him. Whichever.

I’d love to see Richardson get a contract extension, regardless. Especially with Obi gone. He’s been an anchor on our line when everyone else’s health and availability have been in constant flux the past couple years. He always seems to hit another gear in games right when we need it. He’s 31, but there’s no reason to think he can’t start for…[Read more]

I like the picks, I just don’t see the Browns picking 9 players, at this point. I think two to four of them are used for moving up and targeting players, or maybe traded for future picks. We just don’t have the room for 9 rookies on a playoff team.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they take a kicker, unless they really like McCrane.
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Browns hosting Clowney for second time in the forum Browns Forum 4 years ago
I don’t think it’s fair to label Clowney as having injury issues. He had surgery his rookie year and rebounded with five mostly healthy seasons where he produced at a high level. Last year he got hurt again.
He’s not Joe Thomas, but that’s a pretty average injury history.
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Browns sign Clowney in the forum Browns Forum 4 years ago
They’ve had a great off-season so far.
Curious how many players they actually draft, as their roster gets more and more loaded. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 4 of their 9 picks used to either move up or traded for future picks.

I just feel like this year’s Browns would rather have at least two of Redwine, Joseph, and Thompson with a rookie or two on next year’s roster as backups and situational players, rather than all rookies. The players on your list will unquestionably be better than what we have in 3 years (although Redwine and Thompson are still young), but we’re…[Read more]

I would be shocked if we take that many DBs, after spending in free agency. I don’t think any of those picks would make team at safety. We have room for maybe two draft picks to compete at corner, but that’s about it.
Love the LB pick. It’s clear out team doesn’t think of linebacker as a key position and prefer steady veterans and quantity over…[Read more]

I think there’s still a solid chance Carolina goes QB. The chance Darnold can turn it around is worth the price they paid, but that’s one hell of a wager. He’d be a great transitional/backup QB for a few years.
I dig that draft for the Browns! Only question in the TE…do you see that as a need, or was it a value pick?
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Browns are hosting Jadeveon Clowney on a free agent visit. in the forum Browns Forum 4 years ago
If there’s a great wide receiver available, there’s merit in taking him. Landry has two years left on his contract, OBJ has three. We can’t keep both for more than a couple years. Draft someone who can back them up this year, and play a bigger role in 2022.
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Browns are hosting Jadeveon Clowney on a free agent visit. in the forum Browns Forum 4 years ago
They need both, with or without Clowney. Our cupboard is more bare at linebacker, but defensive end is way more important for our system and we regularly rotate three of them during games.
Safety seems pretty set, I’d love to see us address LB and DE with two of our first picks
MDP Sack Attack replied to the topic Browns sign DE T.McKinley in the forum Browns Forum 4 years, 1 month ago
Higgins, Jackson, McKinley, and Roberts are all extremely competent veterans. They won’t carry you to the playoffs, but if they have to play a lot of snaps they won’t be the reason you lose a game.

Plays really intelligently, rarely out of position. Doesn’t have the speed or explosiveness to make big plays. Seems kind of like the mold we’re looking for in running backs, given Goodson and Smith. I just don’t think it’s good enough, in an era where running backs change direction like point guards and tight ends can hit a top gear like wide receivers.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh is losing a LOT of key players and not getting good replacements.
I realize that’s their usual approach to free agency, and it usually works out well for them… but this year it just feels a little more severe.
